The building and facilities aren't much to look at but our canoe and other equipment were all in good shape. The online reservation process was easy. We got on the river quickly. We did the "1-2 hour" trip back to Buckley's and it only took us about 45 minutes, but we were highly motivated because it started pouring rain about half way there! The river was beautiful. There are places that would have been nice stops if the weather had been better. We saw some deer, herons, and other birds.

I can't say enough good about this kayaking rental company. Been there four or five times over the years. Went again yesterday, They have the Covid-19 restrictions and compliance down to a tee. If you are looking for an outdoor activity, I highly recommend. Great swimming holes and rope swings for the kids.

During COVID-19, they offer reserved, scheduled, times and single kayaks. Perfect to keep corona away and still enjoy nature! Friendly and helpful, they got us in the water quickly, and if you take the downstream trek to Deerfield acres (3 hrs), you call at the covered bridge and they are there in 5-10 minutes. Quick and great! The river ride is wonderful. Wide with essentially no fallen trees in the way, there are gentle rapids and occasional big rocks, which add variety without difficulty. Anyone and everyone can do this kayak ride. And it’s mostly wooded terrain, so it’s a beautiful escape. Saw a bald eagle a couple of times on the river too. Gentle, nice river. Covered bridge. Swinging bridges. Spots to stop and enjoy. And Deerfield park is the end destination, with plenty of spots to stop and enjoy near the end too. Midweek prices are Inexpensive. Like $15/pp. Well worth it! Great river kayak ride!

This place has been in operation for 40 years and is on its second owners -- original owners still live at the site. All the people working there couldn't be nicer. We had our own canoe so we used their shuttle service. They are dog friendly with a water bowl set out. When we returned I picked up my canoe to carry to my car and one of the guys insisted (nicely) on taking it to my car. They support the nearby Mystic Lake YMCA camp that my daughter had attended so that was a bonus. The current owner brews his own been and gives it away because he cannot sell it -- what a treat after a paddle! They offer both canoe and kayak rentals, and offer a variety of trip lengths. The Chippewa River was beautiful -- not completely wild (you do see houses) but wooded the whole way. In a two-hour paddle we say at least three different king fishers.
