We stopped at the falls but were shocked at having to pay an entrance fee just to view the falls. The shopping area and viewing areas look rather worn and tired and the trails along the waterfall and rocks are closed to the public (once again not sure what we paid for then).

The highlight though are the gorgeous falls.. such beauty

It’s one of the best and biggest waterfalls in South Africa, situated in Mapumulanga province the waterfall has an entrance fee of R10 P/P and at the entrance on the right there’s a viewing deck and a mini market and on the left there’s public toilets.

If you want to go down there’s two routes one needs good grip shoes (short route) and the other is easy (longer route) when you reach the bottom of the river just walk opposite of the water flow towards the waterfall but be vigilant on where you step as there’s many slippery rocks and closer to the waterfall there’s deep pools up to (2m-3m) if you feel like taking a swim it’s very nice but the closer you get to the fall the deeper it gets, up to (2.5m-3m) deep depending on the water level and season just be careful of the strength of the waterfall flow in rainy seasons.

But it’s my favorite waterfall in South Africa because it gives you the feel of swimming in wild nature with absolute silence and calmness...

The parking area of this site belies the exquisite beauty you’ll find just a few steps beyond the curio stalls. If you can stop at only one waterfall area on the Panorama Route, make it Lisbon Falls. There are multiple cascading levels with intermediate pools, all deriving from an unassuming open grassland area. Sublime.

Wanted to make the most of the day after visiting The Gorge Lift, so decided to make a turn at God's Window - but the entrance queue was ridiculously long, so gave it a skip and stopped at Lisbon Falls instead. Beautiful waterfalls making great photo opportunities, nice walking trails and plenty of sidewalk traders selling lovely African memorabilia.
Only R15 entrance / person - well worth the visit.

Beautiful view from the top - much like all the waterfalls in the area.
BUT
Take the time and scramble down to the bottom - the path is to the left of the viewing area.
It's quite a steep descent but the view from the bottom is out of this world!

As with all the waterfalls in the area, there is an entrance fee of R15 per person. Spend the cash, pack a picnic and make a morning of it.

Visited after many years and once again astounded by the natural beauty of the area. Good parking, some small curio stalls and ablution facilities. We paid R15 per local adult. Nice viewing deck with several waterfalls which you view from the top. Cards accepted. Worth the visit. The road getting there is in terrible conditiom though with extensive roadworks. Great time of year to visit.

Excellent views on offer, very small market area. No further activities and/or attractions offered. Venue is a few km's from Gods window and the pinnacle.
Definitely worth stopping by if you are on thr panoramic route.

It’s closed. Apparently the walk to the bottom of the Falls is off limits since somebody drowned at the end of 2022. There were a few stalls open, but otherwise no activity and no clear signage.
You can take a look from the top of the falls, but there’s not much to see.
Skip this, there’s much else to see.

This place is very nice and the falls are one of the highest of South Africa. More than 100 m high. The place is secure with barrier to watch the falls. There’s also a big place to park the car. I recommend this place.
