Left God's window Window as it was misty. As The Pinicle close by ,decided to see it. Attendant said no mist so went in. Blown away with the beauty of the valley , the rock itself with aloes growing on top. Amazing structure and views. Then the short wall to the waterfall cascading down. Well looked after the area and worth the visit.

I am less impressed than other reviews would lead you to believe.
Nice unusual rock in a gorge, with beautiful colors. However, there are limited walking options and therefore it is really only a viewing of the rock, you cannot do anything else.
It certainly wasn't busy and the girl who paid the entrance fees was happy to see someone.
It's not expensive and it has a nice view that's it.

Beautiful natural Attraction, but that we Italians can also find in our Alps. from the parking lot a few steps will take you to the railing from which to look down the gorge. Out of proportion ( 50 ran ) the price for the view, compared to the other attractions of the canyon.
Early in the morning this low-lying side of the Blyde is often immersed in rising fog.

Doesn't look much from the road but recommend pay the entrance fee and explore. Note not good for those not used to walking a bit! Great views on a good day and the pinnacle is certainly different. Staff very hospitable and curio sellers a delight.

Reasonable entrance fee and clean and tidy facilities. The view is beautiful and there are unique rock structures with lots of space for hiking. Bathrooms just need more attention as the one handle was broken and I was trapped inside for a while before passers-by came to save me.

The Pinnacle Rock is one of the natural attractions situated along the Panorama Route in the Mpumalanga Highlands of South Africa. It is located on the R534 turnoff just north of Graskop. This is the same road you will take to the popular God's Window stop just a few minutes drive from here.
Opening hours are presently stated as 7am to 5pm daily and entry fee is now R17 per person (Sept 2019). There is parking for perhaps 25-30 vehicles, decent toilet facilities and covered curios stalls if you fancy a bit of local souvenir shopping.
From the carpark, it is a 2-3 minute walk to the first viewing point overlooking the Pinnacle Rock, which is a quartzite buttress that rises around 30 meters from surrounding canyon floor. Millions of years of land erosion on its sides created this natural rock tower. It is unique in appearance and attractive within the green forested canyon.
There are a couple more viewpoints you can walk to around 80 metres away that make for good views of the Pinnacle Rock and landscape as well. Do have a look out for birds and monkeys in the indigenous forest within the canyon walls below if interested.
Note: The Pinnacle Rock is a good first stop if you are beginning your Panorama Route drive from Graskop. It can be comfortably done in 10-15 minutes before moving on to see God's Window and other stops you intend to make.
Note: We visited The Pinnacle Rock on a clear afternoon in September when visibility was very good. This made for much nicer views of the landscape compared to our June 2012 visit when the skies were very hazy.

An entrance fee of R 17:00 per person is charged. Numerous vantage points allow great photo opportunities and views.

The panorama route around Blyde River Canyon is an excellent way to spend 1/2 a day to a full day in addition to Kruger National Park if you are visiting South Africa and spending time in the eastern part of the country.
There are several important stops along route R532 between Graskop and Abel Eramus Pass, including the Pinnacle Rock. This is the first stop, leaving Graskop and nearest to this nice little town, just 8-10 minutes away. Leaving here you will arrive at God’s Window in 5-7 minutes drive..
Of the major stops along this section of the Panorama Route, this was our least favourite as there is little to see here other than the interesting pinnacle rock jetting out of the ground that seems ready to fall over at anytime. It is actually quite interesting but less impressive than the other sights; including God's Window, Bourke's Luck Potholes and the Three Roundavels.
We do recommend a stop here (Rs 5 only) as the price is cheap and it is an interesting sight to see. However, you only need to spend 5 minutes here before moving onward to God's Window. The Pinnacle sets the stage for continuously better sights as you continue up the Panorama Route.

Yes you have to pay everywhere on the Panorama Route but putting this into a social context, there is little opportunity to earn money in Mpumalanga and the unemployment rate is incredibly high so I have no issue with paying a nominal fee and browsing the various curios to provide opportunity and livelihood. The pinnacle was one of our favourite spots as it was beautiful and peaceful.

Didn’t know what to expect before we arrived but are glad we included this on the itinerary. Total time needed ro this is 15-20 minutes, depending on how much time you want to look at it and the surrounding landscape.

Is it safe to travel alone, as a single female?
Written January 15, 2021
I will not let a women travel alone in our country. I won't feel save as a man. Why then not in a group?
Written January 17, 2021
To be honest, not so long. It was on our way to Three Rondavels. We just drove towards this location, spent there about 30 minutes to 1 hour and continued our journey.
