(OK as well as a guide and the guardian, who stayed outside)
Part of Snefru's (or Sneferu's) learning curve in pyramid design, this was built in steps.
Like all pyramids, there isn't a lot in the centre when you get there, and getting there involves the usual long hot walk, climbing the external steps and then descending a very long slatted ramp followed by climbing a ladder into the empty burial chamber, but the tunnel doesn't need any stooping unless you are around 6' tall.

The name of this Pyramid as the locals and the tour guides and the police know is Maydoum Pyramid, and they will never recognize the Scientific name of Sneferu who built it.
Just a not in case you want to arrive.

GREAT pyramid! It is not the easiest to get to but it is well worth the journey. It is a pyramid that is in between the Step pyramid and the Giza pyramids

I visited this site in March 2011 (the date shown is not correct), and would go back for another visit. This pyramid goes by many names, Pyramid of Sneferu, Medium Pyramid, and others, they are all one in the same. If you have the time, I would make the day trip to this site. You can combine this pyramid with others in the area so you are not making a trip for just this site (Pyramid at Hawara, el Lisht, el Lahun), but seeing this pyramid worth the effort.

Your ticket allows you to enter the pyramid, there isn't much to see, but you are entering an ancient pyramid which IMHO is worth the price. I recommend walking around to the south side and walking down the causeway. It gives you a nice view.

There is a large mastaba out front along with some sarcophagi that were found in the area. There is a bathroom near the entrance. Bring water. There is nothing to buy at this site and there wasn't a tout within 10 miles (16k) of the site! About an hour to take it all in, I do recommend the walk down the causeway. Nice photo op.

At first glance it doesn’t look like a pyramid but more of ancient structure built out of blocks!! It is very different from pyramids in Giza so it could be selling point but please invest in preserving the spectacular architecture and surrounding history.

An interesting pyramids that you'll likely have all to yourself. Walk all the way round. You can go inside, though its quite a steep long slope inside. No one else was there. There are some tombs by it, and we were told you could go in one of them through the grave robbers entrance, but as it involved crawling along tiny passages, we gave it a miss. worth a visit if you are heading to Fayyoum.
