Not very well known, not very well marked, GPS does not work up here but we found it. Road was a little rough but this is definitely a place I would return to and it was a place that I saw on a Hidden Michigan Gem page. It is a Gem. There were hardly any people when we went there was one other family on the beach. Although it was a bit of a chilly day. Great sandy beach, highly recommend.

A another great beach area in the are and not far away from local establishments. You can have a good time reading here, or as other beach areas, bring a cooler along with snacks, beverages and beach chairs, etc.

This beach is beautiful if you want to sit and relax and watch the lake. On a hot summer day I recommend getting up early and stake out your spot before it gets too busy. Check it out on a windy stormy day too, its amazing. Please try to pick up all your trash and keep this beach beautiful forever.

Beach area was busy but many secluded areas to sit and enjoy the view and breeze. Much more to this preserve than the beach. Areas to explore nature.

This used to be private property with a tall fence around it. Now that it is a nature preserve we will be able spend some time along the water.

I was told about this beach and preserve while visiting an establishment on Lac La Belle. It wasn't far from that lake, and wow, I was sure in for a wonderful surprise.
First off, this beach is beautiful. It is remote and secluded. Not one person was there on a warm sunny picture perfect day in mid-June. There is one picnic table. No bathrooms. A small gravel parking lot. The beach is about 2 miles long, located on Bete Grise Bay, on Lake Superior. The views are absolutely beautiful. And the water fairly warm!
The preserve is quite large, and has hundreds of acres of protected wetlands, forest and beach, with some small dune areas. You are not allowed to remove or pick anything natural in this area. Berry picking is allowed. The preserve is popular for hiking, bird watching, swimming, sunbathing, kayaking and canoeing, fishing, and snowshoeing/cross country skiing (trails are not groomed). Entry is free.
A light house is visible, but not accessible. It is a private residence.
There is a small area with dockage where you can dock your boat on the river. Quiet, charming, nature at its best.
Highly recommend a visit to this out of the way preserve and beach. You'll be glad you did!
