About
We offer a 40 minute tour of the Silver Lake Sand Dunes. We have a vehicle that holds about 20 people that goes on a seven mile trail in the dunes. We stop at Lake Michigan or Silver Lake for a few minutes for pictures and to enjoy the view.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this experience in the sand dunes of Lake Michigan. Mel Woods has private access to a large area of the dunes and has created trails for the buggies/vehicles to follow. Our driver/guide was knowledgeable and friendly. We made one stop on the shores of the lake to take in the scenery. I have a bad back, but the ride didn’t affect it. We had to wait about 30 minutes for our tour to start, but there’s a nice covered waiting area. There’s also a gift shop/ticket office that you can pass the time in while waiting.

Steve was the perfect guide for my family- we laughed at his dad jokes and learned so much about the beauty of the dunes. Steve took lots of great photos of the family and was so kind with our 93 year young mother. We had a blast and I’ve been going to silver lake for 30 years.

This was a very fun time! Well worth the time and money! Tom was an excellent guide with many corny and funny jokes/stories to laugh at. The ride was entertaining, fun and interesting to hear about the dunes. I was not sold on this trip as I would have preferred a smaller vehicle. I was pleasantly surprised and glad we decided to take the ride!

Went on a ride yesterday and it was a bit more spirited than expected. Was a pleasant surprise and thrilling for us never being on a dune ride before. Our guide was knowledgeable about the area and really funny at the same time. We are going back again today!

Great experience from start to end. We were traveling with our dog, and they offered a kennel for him to stay in while we were on our 40-minute excursion. Our Driver Steve was a lot of fun and informational. Our 6 year old grandson absolutely loved it! Perfect way to introduce him to the dunes for his first time. They also have a nice picnic area, which we appreciate and clean restrooms. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend Mac Woods!

It was very fun riding through the Dunes. The driver would stop and give us information at various points. We also spent time at the shore of Lake Michigan. The driver was informative and humorous. This a nice family activity.

One of the best deals ever! Trip was soooo fun. Our driver was really good. He had a great personality and full of great information. Time to get off ride and take pictures and walk around

Definitely a must do on your first day in silver lake. The ride was fun and super informative of the history. Great for families or couples. We had a great time. For the cost definitely worth it. The dunes are amazing. Something you can’t do anywhere else in Michigan ! Our driver Thomas was excellent

If you visit the area, you must take this tour. $20 a person for a roughly 40 minute trip through the beautiful Silver Lake Dunes. Driver was nice and personable and the trip was awesome.

The driver (Steve) was personable and had a sense of humor. We had one person in our group who was from Florida and had no concept of how large the Great Lakes were. Steve was full of information and made the ride an adventure.

We are considering this while in the area. I read one review that said it's a rather smooth ride. Can anyone confirm, because one person in my group has sciatica and I don't want anything to be bumpy. Thx.

It’s a very smooth ride, no bumps at all. We were surprised. Plenty of hills and beautiful views you can’t get from the dunes everyone gets to ride on. The tour was well worth it.

Is there a place we can have a picnic lunch either here or nearby? Also we have 18-20 people, do we need a reservation or can we get in pretty easily mid day on a Saturday?

There is a state park close by on the lake and there is a cute little park with a picnic pavilion in town.
It would be a very good idea to make a reservation for a large group,especially on a weekend

It can be compared to a roller coaster at times. The ride is smoother sitting in the front seat of the vehicle, compared to the back seat. It is a family ride, which we take all ages on. Hope this helps.
