About
The excitement of Silver Lake starts at Parrot's Landing, with recreational rentals for great family fun on the sand and water. Take on the Silver Lake Sand Dunes in a rugged Jeep, quad, or dune buggy. If you enjoy the water, ski or tube across the many nearby lakes while being towed by one of our ski boats. For even more action, launch a powerful Jet Ski Wave Runner into the waves of Lake Michigan.

If it is your first time at the dunes I highly recommend a guided tour from Parrots Landing. Each group gets as Jeep and you drive your own Jeep in groups of about 7 jeeps that follow the tour guide. We went on the sunset tour. So fun to learn about the area, drive on the dunes, watch experienced drives zoom around, and end with a sunset.

Our group of 3 booked the sunset tour. It was a blast. Our tour guide communicated well & helped us understand how to maneuver the Jeep around in the sand dune terrain.
The adventure exceeded our expectations and we really enjoyed watching the sunset over Lake Michigan on the Dunes. It was fun watching the ATV's and other recreational vehicles too.

Outstanding experience riding the dunes, experiencing the thrills of off-roading. Parrots Landing always comes through with the quality of tours and Jeeps. This was second time renting from this place and I highly recommend it. Visit to Silver Lake is not complete without this experience.

Disappointed with Wild Bill’s ATV. My reservation was mistakenly cancelled by Wild Bill’s as they mixed my reservation up with someone else’s that called to cancel. We travels a long way to have this experience and they were unwilling to accommodate us, and didn’t want to correct their wrong. Interesting enough, my friends reservation was cancelled as well and she didn’t call either to request a cancellation. Anyone can call and cancel someone else reservation as they don’t take down confirmation number to confirm they are cancelling the correct group. I’m sure the experience would have been wonderful to have and they did actually refund our money to us but we REALLY just want to have the experience this was our purpose of coming to Sliver Lake/Dunes. Very upsetting, but I guess that’s what 2020 is all about. Please becareful booking and don’t get your hopes up, you could be unexpectedly cancelled and you won’t be accommodate at all.

We were greeted by a person who seemed very unhappy with her job behind the counter. We were on time and attempted to be pleasant. But the favor was not returned.
I made an error in the reservation. I meant to book 1 hour and I booked 2 hours. The site does explain that there are no refunds. I realize it was totally my fault. Yet, when I realized my error, I called and explained. They still wouldn’t refund me. They did offer a credit for a future visit- but I live 6 1/2 hrs.away) When we returned the Jeep, I overheard folks asking to add hours to their reservation, and the employee declined saying they were all booked. I felt even more frustrated knowing that they were all booked and still wouldn’t refund me for one hour in the height of the season. (Even if just to satisfy a customer)
Our disappointment continued during the training. Though our trainer was a VERY sweet and pleasant kid, it wasn’t until the training that we learned we couldn’t do Test Hill, the hills over Test Hill or the tree area. That was a huge disappointment. (Imagine, we are stuck with a 2 hour rental and we can’t even drive the BEST hills☹️) .
Those limitations are not on the website. They are significant and should be listed.
The Jeep was nice. It drove well and 5 adults fit comfortably.
Restrooms are available and they are clean and nice.
Good assortment of T-shirt’s and sweatshirts available.
Check in guy was pleasant.

Silver Lake Dunes are unbelievable. When you pull out onto the dunes in your rental Jeep it takes your breath away. The dunes are just beyond description. Great experience. Parrot's Landing Jeep Rentals were great to work with. Will rent from them again. Very friendly and helpful service.

We rented a Jeep and had so much fun driving on the dunes. We didn’t do the group tour - just drove around on our own. The online booking system was quick and easy, as was checkin when we arrived. We received a very helpful overview and instructions, and then we were off.
Choose the person who is the best driver to be behind the wheel for your adventure. You want someone who is very comfortable driving on snow or ice, for example, not the person who is nervous in those conditions and wants to stay home. ;) It’s not easy driving, but it’s so fun and so worth it.

My husband and I took the 1 hour tour followed by 1 hour on our own. The tour was not only fun but also informative. We learned about the dunes as well as how to drive on the dunes; which was a huge help to allow us to get the most out of the 1 hour on our own. It was a gorgeous day and the dunes were not very congested. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys unique experiences!

This was such a fun experience! I booked the Jeep Tour online with some friends for an exciting experience during our mini-vacation in Michigan and this was the highlight of our trip. Great customer service when we arrived, their staff was super helpful with talking us through logistics and what to expect, and the walkie talkies were super helpful while we were out there. We felt like badasses cruising through the sand dunes lol and I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking for an adventure. They also have the option where you can rent the jeep and do your own thing if you have more experience riding through the sand dunes.

Do we have to have a reservation for 4 for the Tour Packet A? The one hour tour then the hour by ourselves.
Written July 9, 2019
Yes. Reservations are best. A deposit will be required.

Which vehicle is best for the dunes? The Jeep? Or a 4-person Teryx from Silver Lake Bugg rental?
Written June 3, 2019
Great question! Both companies offer excellent rental equipment and I believe you’d be pleased with either of the two machines. Their are several different things you are going to want to consider when renting vehicles for the sand dunes. A lot of which are specific to your group and the people in it. Please feel free to call our office at 1(231)873-8400 and we’d be more than happy to help you and your group get the perfect rental for the type of adventure you’re looking for!

Do you recommend a reservation, I will be in town June 7-9th, was planning on renting on June 8th. With the weather we have had, I'm hesitant to make a reservation since no refunds
Written May 22, 2019
We always recommend reservations! We get a lot of walk ins so you’re going to want to book a spot so it is guaranteed. We understand your hesitation as weather reports aren’t always accurate. We would recommend making your reservations 5-7 days before your like to rent that way you can get a good look at the weather. Normally we still have plenty of openings at that time. If there are happens to be bad weather for your rental date we are more than happy to adjust time/date as long as we have openings. Worse comes to worse we can always issue a gift certificate that will be for the full rental amount that was paid.

I’m sorry the Jeeps won’t be open until the 17th of May this season. We do have atv availability in April though. Feel free to contact us at 231-873-8400 for any info.
Thanks for the inquiry!

Is Parrot's Landing open in October?
Written July 25, 2017
We stay open into the last weekend in September. Our partner Wild Bills Atv's is usually open thru the end of October renting quads and depending on the year Razors are sometimes available.

Their website breaks down their rates, we did the tour for 1 hr and then had an hour to run the dunes alone which was worth it. If you have never driven on the dunes this will help you enjoy your free time up there. $249 for the package we had.

Do the Jeeps have speed restrictions? What kinds of things are NOT allowed while on the Dunes?
Written June 18, 2017
The jeeps do not have a governor on them, drive like a normal jeep. We were not allowed to climb 2 hills, our guide said if he allowed it they would have jeeps stuck non-stop up there.

Hi, any review on the evening Sunset tour?
worth it ?
anyone tried it?
Written August 14, 2016
We did not do the sunset tour as we were parked in an RV on the beach. Sunsets were beautiful, and I imagine it would be worth it. Make your reservation, and have fun!
