We were a group of three adults and three children ages 2, 5, and 6. One of the adults was from Sao Paulo, Brazil and had never seen snow before. We took the half day trip on January 1, 2020 which was a spectacularly beautiful day with crystal a crystal blue sky and 6 or 7 inches of new snow blanketing the trees. When we got there Tasha gave the kids French toast she was making, the adults were also offered French toast. Then her guides provied us with boots designed to keep your feet warm in sub zero weather. We were able to participate in the dogs being attached to the sled, then we're off. Two of the adults drove sleds and two guides drove sleds, one with our 5 and 6 year old kids accompanied by the Fern, the owners daughter as passengers and one with an adult and the 2 year old. The ride was spectacular, everyone had an excellent time. When we got back Tasha has hot chocolate and chocolate chip cookies ready for us.

Thanks for the review, we are glad you loved the trip! Fern loved helping out that day and riding with the kids. When I picked up my kids from Sarah Johnson's house, she said to say hi! I had no idea how many people you knew around town :)

Friends and I (ages ranged from 40 to 75) booked the Overnight Winter Adventure. It was an exceptional experience! If you love dogs and the great outdoors, you will LOVE this trip! Guides were so knowledgeable/helpful and welcomed our assistance with the dogs too - harnessing, feeding, etc. They also made sure everyone was properly outfitted to spend a lengthy period of time in the cold weather and kept us well fed. The star(s) of this adventure was the AMAZING canine athletes! It's incredible to see your own team doing what they love first hand.

This was an incredible experience! From start to finish, it was exactly what we all had hoped for. I had been dog sledding in Alaska a few years ago but our guide led the dogs while our family rode in the back. At Nature's Kennel, I was able to have my own sled and four awesome dogs! The dogs have such personalities and are SO happy to run.

The tour guides at Nature's Kennel are salt of the earth kind folks. They love what they do and really make sure you are having a nice time and that the dogs are happy.

We did the 20-mile ride and some did the whole 20 and some split between two drivers for a 10 and 10. The snow was gorgeous and steering the sled was easy - I was a bit nervous at first.

After the sledding we pet the dogs again, took a ton of photos, and helped to place back in their little homes. Then, pasties with gravy, super delicious.

Would do this again!!!

What a fun morning! Our 15 year old son is a dog whisperer, so he was in heaven. There is plenty of time to meet and greet the dogs in your team. The Alaskan Huskies are all beautiful and full of personality. We bonded immediately and enjoyed their enthusiasm as we helped to harness the lead dogs. Our guide, Jake, was amazing (as I'm sure they all are). I ride most of the trail so my son could drive his own team. Whatever you choose, it is all great. The trails show off our Pure Michigan winter beauty. This was a great winter funday adventure 🐾🐶♥️

Visited 01/26/2022. We had Alex as our guide and he was awesome! The owner Tasha was there and was very welcoming and hospitable. It was -10 degrees when we started our trip. My wife and I had a great time! We did the two drivers 20 mile trip. We each drove our own dog sled team. They provide big winter boots which worked great. Bring hand and foot warmers. The dogs do all the work. Dress extra warm and wear heavy mittens because you are not getting the warmth from physical exertion you get from winter activities like skiing. As far as skill level it is really easy to do. Don’t be intimidated. Thank you again Natures Kennel!

What a great experience! Tasha and her crew are fabulous! We really enjoyed the entire experience from learning about dogsledding to helping to harness the dogs to the actual ride and then playing with the puppies! The dogs are extrememly well cared for and really sweet and gentle. My husband and I had a great time and would highly recommend this adventure! Wear layers and definitely snow pants. They provide warm, solid boots. We even were welcomed back after our ride to homemade cookies and hot chocolate.
Thanks Tasha!

NO CONS, ALL PROS
My husband surprised me with this trip because I have always wanted to drive a dog sled team. Was absolutely right! We did 10 miles and if you love dogs, it could have been longer!

Definitely layer up and have a face cover. I was perfectly warm but at times, the wind was cold on my face.

Had lots of interaction with the dogs, helped harness them up and take them off. I could have spent alot more time. Will be doing this again. Our guide was very knowledgeable.

This was a Christmas gift from our daughters. The best gift we've every received. Rachel was an awesome guide! She explained everything very well. The dogs were the best! It was so much fun to meet the dogs and interact with them and the ride was beautiful. It's so pretty and so exhilarating to be outside. The preparations they suggest are very helpful. I'm still smiling from the adventure. Can't wait to do it again.

Everyone thought I was INSANE !!!! 50 plus year old lady, traveling solo from Sunny Florida to the Upper Peninsula of MI in JANUARY praying for a ton of snow !!! I was so excited to go. Had planned this adventure for almost a year. Nature's Kennel exceeded my expectations. The dogs were so well cared for and above that well loved. The atmosphere was always warm and homey and the Guides treated me like Queen !!! I was lucky enough to be the only adventurer on that overnight trip and my Guide on the trip, Jess geared the trip to my every wish. It was probably her slowest tour ever but I just wanted to be on that sled and enjoy the woods and the outdoors. I will never be a dog racer. We had "snowglobe" fluffy snow day one that was something out of a story book. The overnight camp out was GREAT !!!!! Nothing like howling huskies in the dead of night ! The Tiki Hut was also an experience I will always look back fondly on. Day two brought a sunny day and sparkling snow with long morning shadows. Jess also had a camera and she took pics of me on the sled on the trail (something you certainly cannot do yourself) and gave me a CD with all the pics at the end of the trip. I will cherish them forever. Don't tell the rest of my team, I did love them all, but Ugly was my favorite ! Give her a hug for me. For anyone reading this and thinking about going....STOP and make your reservation NOW !!! You will not regret it !!!!!!!!!!!!

I participated in the Taquamenon Sled Dog Race in early January 2012 and it was a fantastic experience. Tasha and Ed and their entire staff made it possible for a complete novice to experience a real sled dog race. Even though I am an older person with no sled dog mushing experience they helped me learn enough to do the race and have a great time.

All of the guides were very professional and experienced and Tasha and Ed were welcoming and very supportive. They made this a lot of fun. I would wholeheartedly recommend visiting their kennel and going for a ride that suits your interests. The 100+ dogs are VERY well taken care of and seeing them in action is inspiring.
