We visited the governor's Mansion Museum with a group of parents and students from Three Rivers outreach program. The guide did an excellent job on the tour. She showed many items from the 1800s. We toured the entire house for about 1.5 hours. especially interesting were the kitchen items, and also all of the items dealing with horses. Our group had all ages, and they all enjoyed it. A specialtreat was the passage from the upstairs to the cook's quarters.

Take a tour and learn the history of this very well preserved museum. Roam through the mansion and learn the history as told by your guide. Great for the entire family and history buffs. Look around and discover all this piece if history has to offer.

Free Admission (they accept donations). Parking lot in the back of the building. A free guided tour is provided with a rich history of the home, Capitol Hill area, Michigan and Marshall in general.
It was very intriguing and much more than I have expected. Unfortunately they did not have much from the original owner, but they did have a lot of antiques and period pieces. The house is much bigger on the inside than it looked from the street. The guided tour really made this something special and we enjoyed it.
If you are looking for an interesting place to do a special event, I guess they rent this place out.

The DAR of Marshall own, operate and lovingly care for this piece of Michigan history. The beautiful Greek Revival structure was home to the 3rd Governor of Michigan and sits across from what could have been the State's capital. It would have been home to future governors if Lansing had not been chosen over Marshall to be the capital. One of the best things about touring this house is you are allowed to go upstairs and even go through the tiny door to the servants' quarters. There are also great clothing displays and historic information contained in the house. The DAR uses it for their meetings and it is also a public museum. We visit nearly every year when we attend the Historic Homes Tour. If you are in town be sure to stop by.

My sister and I were going to be in Marshall to tour the Honolulu House. I read about the Governor's Mansion online but saw that tours were over after Labor Day. I emailed the people and they were happy to set up a time for a tour for us. I encourage you to do this if you find somewhere you want to tour but won't be in town at the right time--most places are eager to find time for you!
Our guide (Patty) was a good storyteller and we appreciated her input on the area and the mansion's history. It was worth the time. It was by donation to tour.

This was a great place to visit and learn more about the history of Marshall; including the plans to be the state capitol and why that didn't happen.

I enjoy touring the museum. The mansion has been restored to take you back to when it was built. The individuals who volunteer do a great job and are knowledgable about its history.

The Governor's Manson is a Beautiful Home, I sometimes also visit it during the Marshall Home Tour. When I was active in the Children of the American Revolution we would have our meetings there.

This is really an interesting stop if you're touring Maarshall, MI museums. The stairs are quite steep, however, and if you can't climb those, you will miss some interesting rooms upstairs.

Went ghost hunting here a year ago January and it was great. The museum to me is a lot like any historical society museum but it was the opportunity to ghost hunt that offered a novel way to enjoy the history. Please offer it again soon!
