We have been meaning to come here since its move but have never managed it. Finally, we returned only to discover we missed a special exhibit we would have enjoyed. Never mind. The new building is spacious and follows CDC recommendations for viewing. You follow the history of the region from the geological start to modern times. All of it is interesting, although smaller kids probably wouldn't be interested as there is a lot of reading. Our visit last just over an hour, and we read most of everything. When you leave, you should have an appreciation for the region, both historically and geologically. A nice little gift shop is worth a visit. They sell some antiques that were donated to the center, including bottles from the area. They also have some local crafts, books and Up North type gifts.

We like to go to local history museums when we travel, so have seen quite a few. This is a great one, and will be of strong interest to anyone who likes history, whether you are interested in Marquette area history or not. Great variety of displays that are interesting fore all ages. Nice gift store as well.

This musem had excellent displays, on par with some of the bigger museums we are used to in Chicago. It's small, but definitely worth a stop if you're interested in local history!

This museum was an odd collection of history and culture. History stretched from 10,000 years ago as the glaciers retreated to about 1980. There were several cultural categories such as transportation, sports, communication etc but it didn’t seem to be particularly well organized. There is a temporary exhibit of old dollhouses on the second floor.

Prepared for visit by reading other reviews and started with high expectations, however was disappointed with the small area of the exhibit, unfriendly staff and disproportionately high admission fee. The temporary Henry Ford exhibit was very interesting, but the permanent collection seems disjointed. Drive out of town to the Iron Ore Museum which was more informative.

Initially I thought the admission price was pretty steep ($7), but it turned out to be worth it. There are wonderful exhibits on geology, the lake, native people, pioneers, etc. There's also some pretty good contemporary stuff on hockey, snowmobiles, and telecommunications. The building is huge, so I wonder if they'll expand the exhibit space at some point down the road.

The displays are all very professional. So much better than I was expecting! This is NOT somebody's basement junk collection.

This is a small museum but gives all the history on the area, going back thousands of years. There was a special exhibit on recreation in the area, which we found interesting. We found it well worth our time.

We spent a couple of hours today going through this museum. It was very informative and interesting. It is self guided, go at your own pace. The displays and kiosks were well done. Recommended doe anybody with an interest in the history of Marquette and the surrounding area.

I can't really talk about the value of the museum, but having been there for a wedding reception it was an amazing building. The dome with the dance floor underneath was breathtaking, and the outdoor garden are with historic brick backgrounds was stunning.

This is a beautiful museum, and small, but much packed into it. It has a special exhibit on Fly Fishing this summer that is wonderful. They feature Hemingway and John Voelker, of course, but also other Marquette fly fishing icons (Fred Warra) and local fly tiers that are a legend in this area. A must see! Nice museum store and this place is a rental for receptions too - very beautiful space.
