About
Since 1937, Jilbert Dairy has brought the finest quality dairy products to families throughout the Upper Peninsula. Our milk, flavored milk, cream, teas and juice have satisfied and nourished consumers for generations. Families and retailers know they can trust in the fresh and nutritious goodness from Jilbert Dairy products. From the original Jilbert farm in Lake Linden to our current location in Marquette, Jilbert Dairy has been the UP’s Dairy for decades. From Ironwood to Drummond Island, from Menominee to Copper Harbor and parts of northern Wisconsin, we take pride in listening to our customers because, they are also our neighbors. When we opened in 1937, we were processing 10,000 lbs. of milk per month. Today, we process over 4,000,000 lbs. per month. When you think dairy, think Jilbert.

Yum! What's not to love about ice cream? They had many flavors to choose from and served generous portions for a very fair price. It's a perfect place to treat yourself to some vacation time sweet indulgence. Loved the cow!

Surprised at the huge size of our ice cream servings! Well worth the inexpensive cost. Highly recommend blueberry waffle cone and cowpaccino ice cream flavors. Great opportunity to get a family picture with an adorable cow statue in the picnic table area.

Inside seating was still closed due to covid.

My husband, dogs, and I did a week and a half camping adventure around the U.P. and ate and snacked at some amazing places. This was my favorite snack by far! We came here all 3 days that we were staying in Marquette. It was so tasty and the prices were very reasonable. So, so good!

During the Marquette parade, a lot of companies were throwing candy and handing out bracelets and other kinds of products with their names and/or slogans on the articles. Well, towards the end of the parade, I was getting a bit more brave to ask for a couple of things from the companies. I was watching JILBERT'S DAIRY as it was coming down the parade line. You know, the MILK company with the huge cow and the slogan GOT MILK. There was a man and two women on the side of the street I was on. They were throwing black things into the crowd along with candy. As they were walking past our group I asked the man what the black thing was that he was throwing, as it looked like an umbrella. He looked at me and did not answer but kept throwing them into the crowd by the three's and four's. Again I asked him what they were, he then displayed his chest, which written on a black t-shirt was the slogan was GOT MILK as he replied "T-shirts". I asked him if I could have one, and he looked at me like I was crazy as he continued to grab three to four at a time and throw them out into the crowd as did the two women and the three other people on the other side of the vehicle. After he ignored me twice I just gave up meekishly. My husband said he watched the exchange between the JILBERT'S DAIRY man and me. Apparently just after I asked this JILBERT'S DAIRY man for a t-shirt, another man from the crowd asked this same JILBERT'S DAIRY man, twice, if he could have a t-shirt, and the JILBERT'S DAIRY man looked at him and very sarcastically told him "NO" while he kept throwing them out into the crowd. If that's not a kick in the face to two potential, if not, a whole lot more, customers for JILBERT'S DAIRY, then I don't know what is. I DO know this, I WILL NEVER EVER EVER EVER BUY ANOTHER JILBERT'S DAIRY PRODUCT EVER AGAIN. I know it won't be easy as I love their chip dip and several other products. Their ice cream is/was a daily treat, but to have this man treat two people so indecent was so wrong. I sincerely hope this status update does eventually get the attention of the JILBERT'S DAIRY COMPANY and that whoever that man was gets reprimanded somehow. Shame on him. — feeling annoyed.

I recently rediscovered Jilbert's Dairy Farm, a local dairy operation in Marquette, Michigan, on a visit to Marquette last month. I first had Jilbert's on a visit to Marquette in 1988, and I'm kicking myself for waiting so long to make another stop there--it is great! While not in a very visible location, it is relatively easy to get to off of US-41/M-28 by taking McClellan Ave. and a couple side streets. Once you're in the neighborhood, the building is hard to miss, with its traditional barn motif and a fiberglass cow perched high atop the structure. The exterior decor alone is worth a stop--it's one of those landmarks with character and the cow adding a special touch.

While the facility houses a working dairy plant that processes milk from farms all across the Upper Peninsula and distributes milk for sale in the region, the highlight is the ice cream restaurant on the premises. I recommend a traditional chocolate malt made from their own ice cream. It was a perfect treat on a warm, humid evening!

Safe to say I won't be waiting another 19 years to make my next stop at Jilbert's! It's well worth a short side trip off the main highway.

Recommend you check date on cheese curd package. Employee said the date stamped is production date + 45 days. Today’s bags were stamped August 8, meaning they were made late June.

Get your ‘fresh’ curds elsewhere as these are anything but fresh.

We don't eat a lot of ice cream so when we do, we want THE BEST available! This definitely was not. It was soft and runny, so-so flavor and filled with air. A few days after trying this, we went to the grocery store and bought some Ben & Jerry's for a REAL ice cream treat!

I take my family here at least once a week. If you go during the week and before 5 pm you can view the dairy operations taking place, really good educational experience for the kids and adults alike. Neat seeing milk and cream being bottled. Dairy implements, advertising, and milk bottle collection also on display and presents a good historical overview of the dairy operations in the U.P. Ice cream is awesome! I regularly take my kids out for "Ice Cream for Dinner" dates during the summer. Outdoor seating area is nice, with photo ops with Jilly the Giant Cow and some pretty landscaping. The Hydrangeas are huge! If you go during the summer, they are open late (10 pm I think), but during the other seasons close by 6 pm. Besides Ice Cream they also have local jams, jellies, maple syrup and handmade items for sale. Thimbleberry Jam is really good...a local delicacy. Enjoy!

We used to live in Marquette years ago, and were in the area for a family event. We visited some great spots like the Mattson Lower Harbor Park, NMU Campus and of course the ever awesome Vango's. Now that our kids are adults, we thought we'd reminisce with some ice cream at Jilbert's. Wow, were we surprised when we ordered dishes of ice cream that you needed a magnifying glass to see. We've stopped at lots of different ice cream places around the U.P. over the years, but the skimpiness of serving here takes the cake. It was good, but we'd have to think long and hard about stopping by again when there are other places you can really get a "bowl" of ice cream.
