This museum is created and staffed by volunteers. We found everyone to be helpful, and the exhibits to be illuminating. Dakota, our guide, was delightful and informative. The Maritime Museum was a highlight of our visit to Marquette, rivaling even Donkers chocolates.

I was looking forward to a ghost tour rich in historical detail. Well, this wasn't it. This was a pseudo paranormal tour that instead of treating the spirit world with dignity spoke to them like circus animals to do stunts that would register on their off-the-shelf gadgets (available on Amazon.) The worst part was listening (for 15 minutes!) to a garbled phone app that plays sounds mimicking the voices of spirits. I just kept looking at the building structure for fear I would start making jokes or start laughing. I understand that this is to raise funds for the restoration of the lighthouse. I would've rather just given money and skip this nonsensical tour.

The red lighthouse really pops with the green foliage and blue waters. I took photos of all angles of the lighthouse and when the sun is behind you, it really sets off the colors. We were there in June and the lilacs were in full bloom and it really made for some great pictures. Unfortunately, we did not have time for a tour of the light. I did end up walking around for half an hour taking pictures though!

Today we had the wonderful pleasure of a tour of the lighthouse at Marquette Michigan. Our tour guide was a lifelong resident of Marquette and grew up in the neighborhood of the lighthouse. He gave the 150+ history, including oral history from his boyhood to the present day, which was full of humor, insight, and detailed facts. Thoroughly enjoyed this worthwhile tour to understand the place of the lighthouse, the shipping in iron mining industry of the area, and the strong community bonds of the people of Marquette. This was a great tour for both children and adults. We highly recommend it.

I really enjoyed the museum, and also went on the lighthouse tour. Both were very worthwhile. The information on the ship wrecks, and the artifact were fascinating. The lighthouse tour was worth taking, but I was a bit disappointed that the upper floors were closed due to damage. Our volunteer tour guide was pasionate and informative. The future plans for the museum are impressive.

Not worth the money unless you are really into it. 7 and adult and 3 per kid makes it not worth the stop. We missed the price qhen we researched it. Lighthouse tour is in addition to entry. Think it was another 5 per adult qith the combo.

You gotta do the museum and lighthouse tour! This was little but interesting. Kept our 5 yr old interested. Alot of books for sale in museum, but limited other souvenirs. The lighthouse was interesting, even walking out on the catwalk. Totally recommend you take the time to visit here.

The staff here is top notch and will gladly help you learn about the great Marquette maritime tradition. The lighthouse tour is a must. This represents a wonderful aspect of American history that should always be preserved.

Took the lighthouse tour and GREG was an awesome tour guide. So much fun. He’s lived in Marquette his entire life so he was able to share so much history about this wonderful town. I highly recommend touring the lighthouse. The view is amazing. Only takes about an hour for the entire tour and totally worth it for $7. You aren’t allowed to go to the top of the lighthouse but still a great tour.

We were fortunate to have a volunteer to tell us the story of Eliza Truckee.

Susan was a great tour guide. The lighthouse itself has a lot of interesting pieces inside, including video. The catwalk of the view was also wonderful.
