We booked a two hour cruise on this wonderful old schooner and had a great time. There were five (5) of us although the vessel will accommodate six (6). We were encouraged to bring a picnic lunch and beverages (including adult beverages) as we booked for an 11am sail. We were greeted dockside by the owner, Nico, and his and his son, Cyrus (the one man crew). After a brief talk covering safety, vessel layout and what was expected of us (nothing really, just watch your head) we were off. Nico provided us with the history of the schooner along with stories of sailing on the Lake Superior. We were given the freedom to go anywhere on the vessel, exploring the lower deck with its interesting galley area. Although the pricing seemed a little high at first, in the end we all agreed it was a great value. My son who goes to college at NMU even suggested that he would return with his friends. We will do this again, maybe a longer trip next time.

The price is right. We had perfect conditions. Capt. Niko is full of information. Wish we had done 4 hours ( instead of two). I am sure this will be a repeat. Make sure you give them your number..they actually called because the conditions were better the day before our reservation, to see if we would be willing to change day.

Niko and Cyrus were excellent hosts and guides for our sailing adventure. The wind did not cooperate but they did their best to make it a wonderful trip. Highly recommend superior odyssey.

This is a superior experience in every way. You and your party have this beautiful, restored “Maine Coaster” to yourselves at VERY reasonable prices, but just as great is that you also may have both Captain Nico and First Mate Cyrus, a father-son duo who, between, them, know more about the UP and Lake Superior geology, geography, history, culture, and everything else that any tour guide. Your sail will be safe, exciting, beautiful, and the accompany conversation will thoroughly entertain, too. You determine how long/far you wish to sail; the crew can make recommendations, if you’d prefer.
We (just two of us) had the full run of boat and crew to ourselves for three hours on a calm afternoon (had to use the “D-sail” to return to dock), and enjoyed panoramic and scenic views all along the Marquette area shore. We were welcome to help with sails and all other work necessary on board…or not. We had full run of the boat, both on deck and below.
Logistics: BYO food and drink, alcohol okay if you’re legal); lots of places to sit but no chairs, so if you need one, bring a pillow; not for those with mobility-impairment issues. Cyrus will make a woven nautical bracelet on your wrist for $5; t-shirts and cool local-artisan-made ceramic coffee mugs also for sale, as is maple syrup from the crew’s farm. Call for a reservation, or stop by the dock.

My Sister and I have never sailed before so this was an amazing experience for us. The crew was awesome. It was a beautiful day for sailing on Lake Superior. I highly recommend this tour on Marquette's Historic Schooner.

I took an amazing 2 hour cruise on this boat during the summer of 2011. The entire family couldn't have been nicer, nor could have the trip have been more beautiful. It was my first sailboat experience, and it was a great one. On that same vacation I took another sailboat trip in another U.P. location on a newer sailboat, and, while I enjoyed it, nothing could match the trip out on this boat.

My husband and I booked a four hour sunset cruise on the Coaster II. We are not regular sailors or even water or boat people, I just thought it would be something different and a little romantic. It turned out to be a relaxing, mind clearing, awesome adventure. Just getting to set foot on the Schooner itself was like stepping back in time. The smell of the wood was intoxicating. The weather was beautiful. Captain Thanos was capable and gracious as was the crew. They were happy to relate information on the schooner and sailing and even personal experiences. The rest of our stay in Marquette was enhanced by their many restaurant and attraction suggestions.

My family went sailing for our first time with Superior Odyssey and it was an amazing experience. We had our two boys, 5 and 9 and our 5-month old daughter, so I was a bit nervous, but it was a very family friendly time. Captain nico was great at teaching our boys all about the boat, the lake, and navagation, which they loved. We will definitely be doing this again!

This was our second time sailing with Odyssey. Three years ago we sailed with Captain Niko and his son Thanos. This time Thanos was running the show. They are both excellent captains. We had originally booked a sunset private charter but they had to cancel for engine repairs. I am glad that these folks put safety first. Lots of sailing captains would have gone out anyway. Jill stayed in touch with us and was able to get us rebooked several days later. Lots of busy companies would have just not bothered so we appreciated Jill's efforts. When we did get to sail, it was soooo great. I posted some photos.

Was planning a day trip to Marquette on November 5th would you be open...

I suggest you call them directly or e mail them directly with this question. But I'm guessing that Nov. is not a good time to be out on Lake Superior.

We are only in Marquette for ONE day, but very interested in a 2 or 4 hr cruise -- if a 4 hr, would need others to be interested as we are but 2 people...
Wondering -- if the weather is inclement on that day, can we cancel?
