Description:

A point in the storm and a guiding beacon since 1889, Old Mackinac Point...

A point in the storm and a guiding beacon since 1889, Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse helped passing ships navigate through the treacherous waters of the Straits of Mackinac. There's just as much to see from the top of the tower as inside the original buildings. Authentically restored quarters and exhibits, including the original lens and the Straits of Mackinac Shipwreck Museum, this "Castle of the Straits" is a true gem of the Great Lakes.

This was a fun stop in Mackinaw City. You can climb the lighthouse to the top and get a great view of the Mackinac Bridge. Lots of interesting information in the shipwreck museum.

Traveled to Mack City for the Richard Crane semi show and tried to find a variety of things to do during the down time between walking the semi truck lined streets of St. Ignace and waiting for the truck parade after dark. This lighthouse was right across the street from our hotel so we couldn't help but stop by. Dad... More

This is a lovely lighthouse. Easily accessible, sitting areas, beach area, public restrooms and not a far walk from parking area. Pet friendly as well. A must see!

If you want a great view and learn why the 3 lighthouses are spaced the way they are and the maritime history of the area, then this tour is for you. Just be sure to wear walking shoes to get up into the lighthouse, no sandals allowed.

If you buy the Mackinac State Parks Pass, take an hour to check out this lighthouse. It's a small property with an incredible view. An interesting step back in time.

Loved touring this lighthouse! Beautiful view from up in the tower. The tour guides are very friendly and knowledgeable. Enjoyed seeing all the history and learning about this lighthouse. Beautiful house and so many interesting pieces to look at inside still. Loved the history.

Doesn't get any easier to access a beautiful historic lighthouse in wonderful condition right at the base of another stunning structure - the Mackinac bridge. Stunning views.

Because it was raining, we didn't get to the top of the lighthouse, but we enjoyed the exhibit. We especially appreciated the shipwreck part. Used the Mackinac Family Heritage Pass.

Step into a piece of history and step back in time. Very nice restoration of the lighthouse and surrounding buildings. Located close to the straits, bridge, forts, shopping and restaurants so there's lots to see and do in the area.
