A point in the storm and a guiding beacon since 1889, Old Mackinac Point...

A point in the storm and a guiding beacon since 1889, Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse helped passing ships navigate through the treacherous waters of the Straits of Mackinac. There's just as much to see from the top of the tower as inside the original buildings. Authentically restored quarters and exhibits, including the original lens and the Straits of Mackinac Shipwreck Museum, this "Castle of the Straits" is a true gem of the Great Lakes.

Beautiful Historical Building

A must to see if you travel north. Beautifully maintained, you can climb the light tower, and learn a tremendous amount of information on our brave light keepers.

Great grounds to wander and sit and enjoy the scenery-great view of Mackinac Bridge, shoreline, and benches to sit on. Can go in to a gift shop for free or pay to go in the to the small complex around the lighthouse.

Walking around the light house has amazing views of the bridge and the Water of Lake Michigan. You can also see Mackinac City. Everything is so close to this Lighthouse shopping food sweets anything you're looking for is in this town.

This is a very picturesque, well maintained lighthouse. It is definitely worth checking out if you are in the area, you can get some great souvenir photos in front of it. We took the tour because by taking the tour you are allowed to go inside to view the living quarters before being taken up the tight winding stairs to... More

This is a very neat attraction! I've been up in lighthouses before, but this one has staff dressed in period clothing to explain the history of this lighthouse and how the light keepers and their families did their jobs. The keeper's quarters are restored to circa 1910 with period furnishings. There is also a display and film about shipwrecks in... More

We visited the lighthouse area two times once at night, also during the day! A great spot for taking pictures with the Mackinac Bridge in the background! I think the bridge moves some in the wind, most of our pictures were blurry at night! Day pictures were fine! Also a wedding was going on by the lighthouse during the day!

We have visited Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse before, but this time we were able to see the Shipwreck Museum that was added in 2014. The information was very well presented.. The lighthouse itself is always interesting. This is a don't miss in Mackinaw City!

Well worth the trip. If there are two of you, get the 68 dollar pass if you are going to the island. There are several events included in the pass and it saves you around $12. If you have children, or grand children, get the $75 pass at the fort. This is good for the Island for also.
