Overview

Some things were just made to be seen. A point in the storm and a guiding beacon since 1889, Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse helped passing ships navigate through the treacherous waters of the Straits of Mackinac. There's just as much to see from the top of the tower as inside the original buildings. Authentically restored quarters and exhibits, including the original lens and the Straits of Mackinac Shipwreck Museum, this "Castle of the Straits" is a true gem of the Great Lakes. This is Mackinac.

Stopped to the adjoining state park and decided to stop to the gift store and pay it a visit. Neat store, but I thought the lighthouse visit was a little to pricey.

We stopped before supper. 10 minute guided tours to the top of the lighthouse, no flip flops! Small spaces, but handled ok for ages 11-69 in our group. Small museum, theater and shipwreck museum/display. Was $48 for 6 of us, stopped later in day, they...More

Really nice exhibits in the lighthouse and great tour guides who took us to the top and explained a lot of the history of what the lighthouse keepers had to do each day to keep the place running.

Nothing spectacular- small house of lightkeeper with a little history tour, then walk to the top of the lighthouse with a period attired guide. Guide was very knowledgeable when asked questions - no prepared talk, really. Worth a short stop.

This was a nice stop and educational. My family and I enjoyed walking around and seeing the different rooms. We were able to climb the stairs to the very top of the lighthouse and enjoy a nice view of the lake and bridge.

We only got to see the outside and take pictures but it is very pretty. We took a lot of pictures at sunset. It is having work done on the outside but was able to work around that for pictures. Right on the water.

The lighthouse tour with the tour guide is 10 minutes. I agree with other reviewers that it takes about an hour to see the rest of the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse and the Shipwreck Museum. The video in the room across from... More

I can't answer that and was going to suggest visiting the website, but I see someone else has provided that information.
