My visit to the Heritage Village was wonderful. I received a guided tour from Paul Joseph. He was extremely knowledgeable and took great pains to teach my family and I about life in the late 19th century. I especially enjoyed the display and explanation of the three sisters agriculture practice. A visit here should be on everyone's itinerary.

We stopped at this site, as we were on our way to the lighthouse at McGulpin Point. The tour provided was free, and provided a lot of Michigan history. It took us about 1 hour, with the tour The site is made up of buildings that have mainly been relocated from other places, as are the furnishings. The village has... More

The village is across from the Headlands and is a very cool place. There's not much signage but if you go towards the headlands you can't miss it. A lot of care has gone into rebuilding this village. Lots of local and important history to see and trails to walk. A sawmill and a working garden also. Stop by on... More

There is a lot of Northern Michigan history in this village. The volunteers are genuinely interested in giving you lots of historical information. I visit there each year and they are constantly making additions to the entire area. Young kids will enjoy seeing things from generations past.

Not sure where John Southam went for his review, but it wasn't to Heritage Village at Mackinaw. Mackinaw Island is east of Mackinaw City out in Lake Huron. The heritage village is just a couple miles west of Mackinaw City on the mainland. It is a neat little collection of buildings and exhibits and is away from the tshirt shops... More

This is a really neat village that is hidden away outside Mackinaw City. Luckily it is right outside the Headlands so people will find it. Hopefully it will continue to grow as people work on it and donate their antiques to it. One of the homes on the property moved from Red School Road was on my family property before... More

This attraction takes visitors back in time to when the Mackinaw area was being established and settled. Even though this attraction has not been in existence too long compared to other area attractions, it is still recommended. There are approximately 7 buildings on the site. Guided tours are available on some days. At other times, visitors can dial a phone... More

Docents gave us a tour of 7 old buildings that have bee restored. They told us the story of each building. They are making improvements and additions yearly.

We went to this place as it was recommended by the front desk. There really wasn't much to see. The buildings were closed and were in disrepair.
