I had really hoped to check out the park and sky at night, but sadly my trip was all clouds and rain. I did decide to go hiking during the day here and am glad I did. There are great wooded areas and shorelines to explore!

Went there during the day. Lots of hiking trails. It was beautiful in the woods with all the fall leaves on trees.

Let me preface this by stating we went on a cloudy night and saw like 20 star in total and 1 satellite. So, no Milky Way and no Aurora Borealis. The website says it's a 1 mile hike to the beach and it's easily all of that. If you have any disability that impedes your walking at all, it's likely... More

The walk to the beach is a mile. The walk back is a mile. You need a flashlight with a red beam. You will walk back in total darkness. It was worth it though but only when we walked back from the beach where we were with 4 other couples. The clouds appeared and obscured our view of the stars.... More

The Headlands may be a bit off the beaten track but worth the effort. Right now with the construction going on it's a bit of an effort from where you must park your car. Have patience and come back when the construction if completed. Wear sturdy shoes/boots. There are so few of these dark sky parks in the world that... More

This place was totally worth the trek. There was some construction but we checked the website before heading to the park and it perfectly describes what you should expect to encounter and exactly how far you will need to walk. I highly recommend going before the sun sets, as it sets over the water and is beautiful. It is also... More

Pretty location on the lake, and plenty of room for large family. We had 6 adults and 6 children and were quite comfortable. There could have been more living room furniture seating but we managed. Lots of dishes/cookware provided making it easy to prepare meals. Pros: very private, lots of space, good price, pretty views, full kitchen, all comforts of... More

My freinds tease me about it, but I really belive this is the best place to look at stars, meteor showers and to hopefully see the northern lights. When I was last there they were doing some construction on the road and parking area so you had to park and walk in. The walk is about .25 mile but is... More

We hiked in before just before sunset. So happy we did! The water was calm and the beach area was so quiet. There were quite a few people but you didn't realize it until you looked around. The sky and water colors slipped from pastels to deep pink and yellow hues. The stars started winking in as the sky turned... More

An awesome place to let yourself be involved in nature and not worry about what is going on around you. We were mesmerized by the silence and calmness all around us as we navigated down the trail. The night we were there was a full moon so we did have lots of light to guide us, but I can only... More
