Sail the Straits of Mackinac! Sixteen historic lighthouses lie within easy cruising distance of Mackinaw City. Travel in comfort and safety on Shepler's spacious vessels during these fascinating tours.

For close to three centuries, the Straits of Mackinac has been a vital nautical thoroughfare, providing passage between Lakes Huron and Michigan. But traveling its famed blue waters has not come without risk. Over the many decades, lighthouses were built to protect mariners from dangerous shoals and reefs. Each has a story to tell.

Shepler's exclusive Lighthouse Cruises are voyages of discovery. Guests are treated to awe-inspiring views and the fascinating history surrounding these Great Lakes guardians.

We went on the extended eastbound cruise and while the weather wasn't awesome (we ran into a squall that had us forced belowdeck and sitting still for a few minutes), the tour was really informative and you get closer to the lighthouses than you ever would be able to on land. The captain was great and the docent from the... More

A friend and I took an improptu trip to northern Michigan on Friday of Fourth of July weekend. At 10:00 Saturday morning I noticed a flyer for Shepler's Lighthouse Cruise, which runs on a schedule but not every day. I called and Laney was polite and made reservations for us on the phone. She explained the expectations (be on time,... More

A great cruise. We went on the east bound cruise and saw 6 picturesque lighthouses. The guide was very knowledgeable. I really wish I was going to be in the area long enough to do the other cruises offered by this company.

There are several other cruise companies in Mackinaw City, but Shepler's is, I think, the oldest, and in any case undoubtedly the best. Its dock is located in central Mackinaw City; Shepler's offers the usual trip back and forth to Mackinac Island, but also longer trips to lighthouses in the immediate area of the Bridge. The crews are very well... More

The Eastern cruise was wonderful and very informative. Terry Pepper does a great job of explaining and interpreting history and culture of the lights and keepers. The boat is very comfortable with heat below and wind above. We had a super time and will come back for the other tours next year. Well worth the cost and the time.

You came up here for the water - what better way to appreciate it than in a boat? Approaching the island and Mackinaw City on the return reminds you that you should have booked a hotel on the island instead.

The 2 hour trip took us under the Mackinac Bridge. We got close up views of 5 lighthouses. The narrator gave us a lot of good lighthouse and shipping information.
