Moira is an incredible historian and tour guide - her positive energy and knowledge of the Island she shares is incredible. Her eye level bike tour is hands down, the best tour I've taken of any particular place. Too see Mackinaw Island through Moira's perspective was a delight - riding alongside her through trails and paths I would have never found on my own, she was able to reveal parts of the Island seemingly untapped even by it's locals. If you want to really experience Mackinaw, meet with Moira, you definitely won't be disappointed.

My friend and I are the fans of the movie Somewhere in Time. We want to see the Grand Hotel where the movie was made. The trip was wonderful. We had the Afternoon Tea by the window, a breathtaking view of the lake Huron. We walked everywhere on the beautiful island.

Beautiful natural beauty which is free, so long as you walk everywhere. For everything else, the cost is double for what you would expect to pay. Bike rentals are $6 an hour or over $50 for the day. Carriage ride tours are $30 per person. Food ranges from $5 hotdogs to dinner entrees over $80. Seriously, only come here if price is no object and you wish to take in sparkling clean waters, wooded walking trails, and the smell of horse dung. (Cars not allowed) Electric or propane carts not allowed either. The rooming accommodations are top, and the overall aura of a late 19th century resort town is wonderful but, oh the price!

While my wife and I had visited Mackinaw Island 5 to 7 times during our lifetimes, the summer of 2017 was the first visit for our sons aged 14 and 17. While we enjoy the usual activities one normally thinks of as we tour destinations around the country, we particularly seek out unique experiences to explore, learn and build special memories. We’ve been on food tours in New York City, Key West and Chicago, historical walking tours of Broadway, Mount Vernon, Washington DC and Boston and gone on amazing specialty tours including the Grand Canyon Rim Mule Ride, Disneyland’s Walk with Walt Tour, Walt Disney World’s 7 Hour Behind the Magic and many others. So as I research potential activities for our family wherever our adventures take us, there’s a very high standard of quality, enrichment and entertainment we expect. As I researched opportunities on the island, Mackinac Revealed caught my eye as our family’s type of experience.
Well from the moment I made our reservations online, I knew we were in amazing hands with Moira. She called to confirm our reservations with 24 hours of purchase and then confirmed via email again several days before along with providing details on where to meet. On the day of the tour, we meet Moira in the early afternoon and for the next 2.5 hours, she was simply fantastic! I don’t want to spoil the experience for you and rest assured Moira is on par with the many five-star experiences our family has enjoyed over the past 10 years. She has direct family connections to many of the homes and sites you’ll see and provides a level of insider knowledge you just can’t find in any guidebook or self-guided audio tour. She was so good our entire family agreed we wished we had more time to take the other tours with her. I was not only the highlight of our island visit last summer, but it was in our family’s top five of all time. In summary, book a tour with Moira now; don’t think about it, wonder if it will be good or not, just do it. You’ll be so grateful you did.

My wife & I were on Mackinac Island the first week in October. I had found this company online about a year before our visit. It was probably the one 'activity' that I was looking forward to the most. It more than lived up to my expectations. Moira was an excellent guide. Her knowledge of the island and its history really made it a fun walking tour. As someone who grew up on the island, she could offer insights to the working of the island that really made it feel like you were getting 'inside' knowledge. We highly recommend this company if you're looking for a unique way to see the island.
One suggestion if you're going to book this tour... tell Moira what part of the Island (ex. history, architecture, how the island 'works', etc) interest you the most. She's very open to tailoring the content to what appeals to you the most.

We enjoyed a great walking tour along West Bluff that gave us excellent insight to the history of the homes and families on the island. Moira has so many stories to tell of her experiences growing up in that area. If you are looking for a unique and enjoyable experience on Mackinac Island, we would recommend this!

I only knew about this tour by poking around on Tripadvisor, and I'm glad I found it! My husband and I were going to be on the island with another couple and had seen the usual sights in the past. I was so excited to find that a local person could take you to places you might not normally see and narrate -- right up our alley! Moira's website says to email her if you would like a tour on a day when one is not offered -- I did this and she was so wonderful to schedule an extra tour for us. Although she was tied up touring all morning and normally would not have scheduled an afternoon one as well, she was willing to accommodate us since we only had a small window of time! We had a great tour of the West Bluff homes. Moira is happy to talk about any topics you would like and will answer any questions you have. Be sure to speak up if there is something you want to know. She gives you time to take pictures. If you have seen the popular sights on Mackinac Island and want to do something different, book a tour with Moira. Since she has a variety of tours, I would gladly take one of her other ones the next time we are on the island.

We did the walking tour with Moira and was excellent and very interesting.... See the beautiful homes and gardens was a different area that we hadn't seen. With Moira actually being from the the island and living there still it had a more personal touch too. Would highly recommend this tour

Our guide was Moira and she was amazing!! We did both the walking tour and the bike tour and both were great! We have been going to the island for 4 years now and she taught us so much we never knew. The bike tour took us to trails and sights we never knew existed on the island. We will definitely be booking next year with Moira to see where she takes us next. Thank you Moira see you next year😀

I always hope to find more than a tourist's perspective when we travel to places with such rich history as Mackinac . Moira's walking tour was the answer. It's like taking a walk with a new friend as she tells you all about the place she's known since childhood. Her tour was the highlight of our visit to the island.

What location does the walking tour start from?
Written July 11, 2016
The meeting spot is a memorial bench several hundred feet past the Gatehouse Restaurant on Cadotte Avenue, (the road which leads to the Grand Hotel). The large bench is marble, horseshoe shaped, and a dedication to Stewart Woodfill.

How do you book a tour? No contact info or website provided

The website is the name of the business followed by a dot and a com where it is possible to book a tour and to send an inquiry. Previously the website was posted so I will try to fix that. Thank you!
