Great service at the club and a nice selection of Holes for the game. Four of us played and had a eight a.m. tee time. It was fun, plus two of my grandsons said playing the oldest course in Michigan was a notch in their Golf Pistol.

What a great course!! We absolutely loved it! Grab yourself some Hickory Clubs and make your round a whole new experience! Or is it an Old Experience??? You decide! While you’re there you might catch a glimpse of Chewy the amazingly cute puppy!!!
I recommend playing a round with your clubs and a round with hickories see how you play!!
Personally I enjoyed with hickories because it felt like a blast from the past. My favorite hole was number 3 !!! I putted really well with the hickory putter and the 55* hickory wedge was my favorite of all

Located on British Landing Road in the center of Mackinac Island this links style 9 hole course (play from two different tee positions for 18) offers golfers hilly terrain, tight fairways, and small greens. It helps if you have a really good short game. For me it proved to be a consist battle to get onto the green, but an enjoyable one. You can either walk or rent a cart. The cost for 9 holes with a cart was $50 or $35 to walk. I enjoyed the walk. However, after walking around the Island all morning, I was quite worn out by the 7th hole. The clubhouse staff members were very friendly and helpful. The 20 minute carriage ride to and from the golf course is half the fun. It was a pain to haul my clubs back and forth on the ferry and then to the hotel; therefore, I would recommend you rent clubs. The cost is only $15 for an older set, but they should do the trick. There are also newer Pings for rent at $25. If you are a golf enthusiast or a history buff, it is well worth it to play a round. As a historical footnote, the Wawashkamo Golf Club, which was established in 1898, is the oldest continuously played golf course in Michigan and sits on an 1814 battlefield. Should you happen be on the Island in September, normally the clubhouse has a pretty good sale on golfing apparel.

Would strongly recommend that golf enthusiasts try this unique and historical club. Can't say I've ever play golf on a revolutionary war battlefield! Reminds me of the old course at Saint Andrews in Scotland with the small & unique greens, heather for the rough and small tee boxes. They even allow you to make a tee out of sand on the first Tee box. Will return if I ever get opportunity again.

I started golfing this course because I kept getting my golf equipment stolen out of my bag at the Jewel.

Wawashkamo, which means "crooked trail", is one of Michigan's oldest active golf courses. It is located on Mackinac Island on British Landing Road, near the airport, which is near the center of the island. This is a nine hole course. My husband has used hickory shafted clubs while playing here.

Good deal using the spring special. The course was in very good condition and the course workers were very nice. Chuck in the proshop was extremely helpful in getting me set up and helping me to get there easily upon arriving on the island.

We have played at the Jewel a couple of times before and were looking for more. We enjoyed the Woods portion of the Jewel course, but really wanted to try this small links style course with a long history. The course is well maintained and is in the authentic Scottish Golf Links style. The tee boxes were small, the fairways hard and fast, and the greens lush and soft.....making for great golfing. Few tourists play this course which is preferred by the locals....it is quiet and not crowded. Some may consider the course expensive at $75/person plus golf club rentals, and the taxi each way was $22.50 + tip. If you play the red tees, then to play 18 holes you play the same course twice. What I found unique was that you could see the flag from almost every tee box whether the hole was par 3, 4, or 5. For us the expense was well worth it and we will very excitedly play here again.

Had a great time chatting with Chuck before the round! Nicely maintained course. Fun facts about the design posted throughout the course. We'll be back for sure!
