Worst customer service ever...
Nov 2020
I placed 2 orders for fudge XMas presents, the invoice had the correct ship to addresses, but the label created for FedEx had both shipments going to me. Tried calling and emailing Laura to correct this, NO response despite multiple attempts, so I paid and extra $15 to have FedEx change one of the ship to addresses. Ok, I'm fine with that. Fast forward a few days, the changed address was supposed to be delivered on the 23rd, then FedEx changed the status to pending, after hours on wait, FedEx said the barcode was unreadable, so they called the shipper for direction. Laura/Murdick's requested the fudge be returned to Mackinaw Island, vs to the address less than 20 miles away, both Murdick's and FedEx having the desired ship to information. I decided to send my shipment to my friend, another $18, plus delivery on the 30th, nice XMas present, NOT!!! The WORST customer service ever, ever.

All these problems had NOTHING to do with the pandemic, just a poorly run company. Do NOT buy from these clowns!!

Lots of options and our favorite fudge that we tried in the area! We got the German chocolate fudge and it was by far the best fudge I’ve ever had! So yummy!

Terrible fudge and way overpriced!

Sorry to have to post such a bad review, but I have no idea why this place has so many positive reviews.

Was on the island yesterday and decided we HAD to buy at least one piece of fudge; how can go to Mackinac Island and not buy fudge? Decide on this one because their sign said something like ""oldest fudge on the island or the "original" or something like that.

Got the chocolate with Pecan, and it was not good at all! Had not chocolate flavor to speak of, pecans were bland and had no flavor as well, and the fudge was not smooth at all. Was like eating pure sugar and had a course "sugar particle" texture to it.

At $11 for one slice of fudge, the price was crazy. I know fudge is expensive no matter where you buy it, but this is kind of crazy. It might be different if the fudge itself was the best I every had or something, but it is one of the worst!

Would not recommend

Yummy fudge!

I am sure all of the fudge was good - I mean how can you go wrong, right? But this seemed like the good old fashioned fudge. We got the chocolate pecan and it was amazing!

Hit or miss

I was excited to see so many flavors and this shop was the only one where I found cherry. (You would think they all would have cherry because it's Michigan after all, but no) We chose the cherry & the turtle flavors.

The excitement was shortlived. The cherry was so dry it crumbled as we were slicing it. You could not really taste cherry at all. Very disappointing.

The turtle was fine and was more creamy than the cherry but but not the best fudge we have had.

Perhaps we just came on an off day. We had seen good reviews but we cannot join the group that praises this fudge.

Fudge is one of the things you look forward to on Mackinac. Nobody had seconds so that says a lot.

WORTH IT!

The staff was friendly, the fudge makers were smiling, and the fudge...well OUTSTANDING! We got the triple fudge espresso. One slice was $10. You can only buy slices, which made me sad because I wanted two halves...but COVID makes it so they can't. Regardless...my husband and I ate the entire piece. So much flavor and not so sweet you want to be sick. YUMMY!

The fudge really is THAT good!

Okay there are so many fudge places on this island it's insane! So I asked myself, what's the big deal with the fudge, anyway? You can go get samples in here and honestly, truly, they know what they're doing with their fudge recipes! Lots of variety, it is a little pricey in my opinion, but it is very good fudge and they offer other treats as well. Worth a stop if you like sweets and are on the island for a day or two.

Historic....
Oct 2019 • Couples
There are way too many fudge shops on the Island, and the surrounding area, for us to say with any authority this is, in fact, the best (we'll leave that to the true fudge aficionados).
For us, the real draw to this shop was the history of the family, and fudge making on Mackinac Island.
Though the original family no longer owns the franchise (see the company's history on its website); this is still a historic institution (and tasty too).
