We tried twice on different days but the high lake level, combined with wind was washing water across the walk out there. It was a little too much adventure for us this day. The beach and park and concession stand is right there. It would make it easy to stay for the day. It was packed with people though and the parking lot was full

It's so much fun and you have to do it while in ludington. Walk on a pier and follow the path to the lighthouse if it is not too windy. I am a " big chicken" but it was so worth it. The lighthouse was not open but you could stay there and have a perfect sunset picture. Don't wear your good shoes and keep your phone in a left pocket. The waves could splash you a bit or more 😁. Definitely a fun walk to the light is a must.

it is not often that you get to take a 2,400 foot walk out into a great lake, so that walk by itself is a unique experience. While the climbing of the LH seems to be suspended during the pandemic, the walk out is quite enjoyable. Consider wearing shoes that you do not mind getting wet. With the elevated level of Lake Michigan it does not take much for the top of the waves to roll over the pier on a windy day as we found out. Parking is free and there are public restrooms nearby. Sadly we have not had the chance to watch the sunset here, no doubt it would be spectacular.

We were driving through Ludington headed north and decided to take 40 minutes or so watching the sun set in the sky. Glad we did. Some of the best things in life are free.
