Beautiful River

My mother and I kayaked six miles down this river in the early morning. Only one other person was fishing on the river. It was calm, gorgeous, and had amazing wildlife and foliage.

Kayak rentals are available, but the river is not wooded. It is all in the open wetlands winding through the cattails. Bring hats and suntan lotion if you paddle in the summer.

Was a peaceful fun two hour trip. Lotsa activity. Kinda tough to explain away the "language" to my nine year old. I kinda expected it. So be prepared for adult activity.

This national scenic river is a premier trout stream, and great for day trips with the family or friends. Several outfitters rent tubes, kayaks and canoes; you can see eagles, other birds and assorted wildlife, especially in the stretches further upriver from Ludington. Not a particularly wild stream, good for novices.

We rented a two person kayak and did the loop just south of town. It was afternoon and we were almost alone on this very quiet two hour excursion. Had a good time.

I'm terrible at kayaking but had fun with the wife. Very calm and peaceful. Price wasn't bad either ($15 for first hour, $5 for additional hours)

I love this river... beautiful!! Great way for family and friends to spend the day. However, If you've never been down a river don't underestimate it, can be speedy at times and dangerous. I've seen many people who have never been on a river struggle with their families trying to stay afloat.

This is one of the best rivers in North America in my book! Clean clear water, abundant fish and wildlife all around. Great for water sports especially kayaking, canoeing, and floating on inter tubes as well as just sitting along the bank for quiet time.

Not for the novice paddler...lots of twists and turns, but beautiful nonetheless. This river is what #PureMichigan is all about. We went in October after the leaves were already falling. After spawning in the fall, the King Salmon die, and there was HUNDREDS along the shore. Smell was horrible. But it was also cool seeing all the live ones still... More
