Soak Up Some Fishing History
Oct 2021 • Couples
Fun way to spend a couple of hours learning about the history of the area and perhaps grabbing a bite to eat and/or a drink. Fish is a unique experience and a throw-back to days gone by with the fishing industry in this part of Michigan. They do still fish and smoke fish in Fish Town, but the amount is small compared to its past. It is interesting to read the signs describing the prominent residents and fishermen of Fish Town and to view some of the original Fish Town buildings and shacks. Very much worth a visit.

Beautifully restored Fishtown with wonderful sandwiches at cheese shop and Carlsons fish shop is brilliant…we bought smoked trout, smoked salmon, pates, poppy seed crackers and fresh trout …all were very reasonably priced and delicious.

Worth a quick stop
Aug 2021
A nice stop. It isn't an all day trip and can get hot during the day without a lot of shade in the area. The view is unique and a couple touristy shops around. Parking is difficult and bathrooms are far between. Once you get to the water though, very nice!

Nice short trip from Traverse City
Jul 2021
We had this destination on our list while we were taking a tour of upper Michigan. This place is busy so you need to be patient for parking and restaurants. The preservation is the main attraction and was worth seeing this old fishing town. Very scenic part of Michigan. The town has ample restaurants but we did not eat there and waited until we were in Traverse City. Parking can be in short supply. Enjoyed watching hikers embark the ferry to the Manitou Islands.

Nice Fishing Village
Jun 2021
This is a nice little fishing village, one of the last working fishing districts on the Great Lakes. Take time to read the various story boards, telling some of the history. There are shops to explore. Take the time to walk around and soak it all in.

Family day trip
Jul 2021 • Family
Very cute little town with shops, fishing charters and places to eat. Not an all day excursion, more a place to visit for a couple of hours, especially to see the preservation going on.

Unique Buildings Create Historical Fish Town
Jun 2021 • Couples
We have visited Fish Town previously, so this was a short visit to just enjoy this unique venue and the views. The history of Fish Town is interesting and explained on a storyboard. Plus now they are experiencing some water changes in the lakes. It is nice just to stroll the unique town and shops.
