Great town for a summer visit

This is a beautiful area in northern Michigan. Fishtown is a fun little waterfront village with unique shops and places to eat. The Village Cheese Shanty is a must.

This is a historic fishing village restored into shops on the mouth of the river that comes out of Lake Leelanau, spilling over a dam, giving a mini waterfall feeling. It opens to the beautiful harbor on Lake Michigan, the shops are fun, it is close to most everything in Leland, including Van's Beach and it's a must see when... More

A must see for travelers in the area. Love how the buildings and surroundings are kept original. There's even still fishing done from here.

It's been at least a decade since I was last in Leland to catch the ferry to North Manitou and though Fishtown has added a few more stores, it is still a rustic destination with a history worth exploring. You gotta get the smoked fish! A staple of fishtown.

Fishtown is a quaint old fishing pier/village that supports an eclectic mix of shoppes offering all kinds of interesting wares and foods. We had a great time just walking about, enjoying the beautiful morning. A wonderful stop.

I've been visiting Leland for over twenty years and it always delivers. The candy shop and sitting outside for a burger by the waterfall is a must. I frequented with my family growing up on the weekends and the drive from Traverse City is really short. Bringing my girlfriend out just shows how great Leland is for everyone. Highly recommended... Sights and smells of a small commercial fishing village. A tiny glimpse of what many of the small towns and harbors on Lake Michigan might have been like during their "glory days". It of course has been commercialized by modern day businesses, but is still a lovely little place to stop, get a sandwich, buy some smoked fish, or take... More
