This zoo is not huge. It takes about 2-3 hours to go through depending on how long you spend feeding the animals. There are lots of deer, ducks, goats, and camels that you can feed carrots for $3 a big cup.

There are large animal feeding opportunities, but imo they are way to expensive. Lemur time for $65

The enclosures are close to you so it’s rare not to get a good look at the animals.

There were no concessions there, so I’d pack some snacks. Since it’s a small zoo there isn’t a playground or carousel.
But, the day we visited there was a small train for kids that you see at festivals. That was a nice surprise.

Overall, it was a good day.

Wonderful experience, this zoo is a great experience to have with your family, all the staff we encountered were wonderful and knowledgeable. All the animals were taken care of wonderfully, we could not ask for a better family fun filled day. Thank you for providing such a wonderful little zoo.

If you remember how the Toledo zoo used to be and how easy it was to see and interact with the animals, you have a glimpse into the Indian Creek Zoo. You can pass food to a monkey via a can attached to a chain - and the monkey pulls the chain to get it! You can also feed many of the animals including the giraffe. But the best part is standing next to the animals with just a wire fence between you! A wonderful outing for all ages!

My first time was not the best experience. Too many animals with too little space. My husband and I took our 4&6 year old daughters on a very hot day and there was hardly any water for the animals. The water tub in the bear exhibit was bone dry and the little kiddie pool for the tortoises was sad. We walked by the “duck pond” which consisted of green sludge. The animals looked miserable. I was very disappointed and most likely will not make it back.

I walked away feeling sad for the animals. Almost no stimuli for most animals. Yes they have food and some shelter, but certainly not a natural habitat or anything close. The grounds themselves were in poor shape....overgrown weeds and grass in non- animal areas. Dirt and ruts everywhere. I watched moms trying to navigate their strollers down the rock pathways ( screenings would have been better). I watched children chasing around two obviously sick paratkeets in the bird enclosure ( no attendant present). The lone emu kept sticking his head out of the fence, I am sure out of boredom. The children's play area had broken equipment. All in all, a depressing visit. Please give the animals to a reputable zoo and close this place down.

I am disappointed in this zoo.

When we attended the parking lot was under construction. The edging of the area appears to been ‘hogged’ out – that is the trees and shrubs were ripped out or pressed into the earth. A layer of clay and gravel was laid on top. I would not expect that to be a long term issue, however, there were no ‘Sorry for our Appearance’ signs. That would have been appropriate because the appearance was less than appearing.

My real disappointment began in the ticketing area. There was a sickly sweet odor that I was having trouble placing. It concerned me because the room was full of toys and food for children. I was told later that it was because of some goat cheese that was on sale but it seemed to be emanating from the reptile exhibits which were placed in the walls immediately facing on the ticketing area where the food and toys previously mentioned are.
Yuck!

When I got outside the first thing I saw was the chicken coop. The birds seemed to be in good shape. They were quite large. There were two guinea fowl in the coop. There were two unclaimed eggs that appeared to have been there for a couple of days at least. The coop itself appeared to be showing its age. There was accumulated detritus from the trees above weighing down the top screen.
Nearby was a pig exhibit. The shelters for the pigs are very small. The one I saw was exactly the size of the pig. I believe it was some sort of a boar. I couldn’t tell. It didn’t exit its house and the exhibit was closed.

Further along was a large cage with two small monkeys in it. Obviously not from the area they appeared a little on the exposed side. The cage was uninteresting and barren. I didn’t see any fresh fruit in the cage though there appeared to be some food in there.

Around the corner were some other monkeys. They were unlabeled. They were isolated in separate cages. They looked forlorn. The cages were barren and uninteresting. They were exposed to the elements.

There was a cage with two small baby black bears in it. No mother. They were taking turns tearing up a piece of black cloth they had pulled off the top of the cage. One of them busied itself chewing on the straw on top of its bamboo ‘shelter’. The cage was stark and small especially for two bear cubs.

Next was the caribou enclosure. One male was moving around the pen aggressively. The other caribou sat in the small lean-to in the back. The enclosure is small, poorly drained and devoid of greenery. There was no fresh, dry feed.
Further along we came to an enclosure with wallabies. There were two albino wallabies. One of them appeared to have some sort of eye infection. Two others seemed to have trouble with their eyes. The lot was somewhat spacious but had only one manger. It was poorly drained and smelled.

They have a small herd of tortoises. They were moving about. The compound was generally dry but it smelled. There didn’t seem to be any fresh feed and the water was questionable as little as there was. The area was denuded of greenery.
They have a small flock of alpaca. At least one of them appeared to be wildly hungry. The others appeared to be slim. They had recently been sheared by they certainly didn’t appear up to an optimum weight.

In the Zebra cage there was a Zedonk – a cross between a Zebra and a Donkey, a female Zebra that appeared to be in the early stages of pregnancy and a Zebra colt. There didn’t appear to be a male so I am hard pressed to imagine what’s going on there. They have a ‘Zebra Feeding Slide’ which is a rubber tire cut in half and nailed to a board. You slide pieces of carrot down the slide where it lands between the steel cage and a concrete pad. The animals need to dig it out with their hooves or pull it out with their lips. There is a large nail sticking out of the end of the slide where little hands might be. The paddock was uninteresting poorly drained.
The giraffe paddock was also poorly drained.

They have one Timberwolf. It paces back and forth without cessation. The enclosure is heavily wooded and brushed but uninteresting. The wolf has worn two tracks.

The bison enclosure was filthy and poorly drained. It had a heavy stench.
They keep a small number of alligators in an open, caged area.

They have a duck pen. They were filling the pond while we were there. It seemed overcrowded. It smelled. The ducks were actively trying to get a drink of fresh water from the hose being used to fill the pond (which is a cement pool). The feed did not look fresh.

Along with these items park staff were roaring around in large carts. The sounds of screeching wheels coming a stop or turning were common. Be wary with children and the elderly if you decided to go to this place.

We actually passed the place and had to turn around. Bug spray is provided inside the gift shop to use for free. It's located in the middle of the woods. They have a really nice gift shop and the employees are very friendly. It's also a great value at $8.00 per adult, $6.00 per child. They also have feed available for purchase to give some of the animals. The walk is nice and they have a variety of animals to pet/view. Great place to take a ton of photos. We will be back again. =)

This was one of the VERY BEST family outings that we have ever been on together, as a family. I have three teenagers left at home and there are not very many places that we can visit and all enjoy. Well, Indian Creek is one of the rare places that we can visit and all enjoy as a family. I felt like I was back in those days when the kids were little. This was such a wonderful experience and we actually bought a one year family membership. We live an hour away, but I would make the trip many more times, to see that enjoyment on my children's faces. This is a unique experience to see so many animals, that are usually viewed from a distance at a regular zoo. This zoo offers, the opportunity to view so many animals and get up and personal with them. You can purchase cups of chow, when you enter, to feed the animals, 90% of the animals can be petted and loved, you can pay a small fee to ride on a camel (call ahead to see what times they are doing camel rides), offers a nice nature walk through the zoo. Bring snacks and drinks for children, as the zoo only have a few refrigerated beverages for sale (canned pop, bottled water and canned lemonade). Bathrooms are very clean, spacious and modern. Dont forget to ask to view the animals in the room off of the small gift shop. This is one trip that your children will remember forever and if you dont have children, friends and family of all ages will be talking about this trip, for years to come! Plan your family's trip today!!!!!

A fun hands on petting zoo with numerous chances to interact with the animals. Much of the zoo is in the woods for much needed shade on the hot days. A great place for a large outing, or for just a family to have some fun.Who would have thought, camels in Temperance,MI.Call ahead to see if they are offering camel rides. Numerous opportunities for photo ops.

I️ think this zoo is awesome. We’re members at the toledo zoo, but I like Indian creek better. When you first pull in, it looks a little sketchy, but once you walk through the entrance, it’s quaint and family oriented. The variety of animals on the grounds is perfect for spending 1-2 hours exploring with kids. The animals are all very interactive and many of them will let you pet them. The workers are very friendly and you can tell they love what they do.
I️ definitely think this zoo is worth the trip- we’ve gone 4 times in the past 2 months:)
