I’m an annual visitor, and was shocked with my recent visit! Giraffes, tortoises, bison, bears, zebras, and parrots are all gone! It’s sad to see vacant muddy enclosures where last summer there were many beautiful animals. The remaining animals’ numbers have been drastically reduced with only one or two camels, kangaroos, peacocks, and reindeer left. This zoo has eliminated or sold off many amazing creatures and replaced the areas with nonliving attractions like balls to bounce on or kids’ tricycles to ride around a track. I’m definitely not happy with my visit and probably will go a bit further to the Toledo Zoo rather than waste my money at Indian Creek Zoo. It’s a shame as this place used to be charming and I don’t get how it’s gone downhill in just a year!

Have been going for 5 yrs, this was my last! Spent over $60 for myself and my rep granddaughters, planned on being there a couple hours but we were literally done walking thru in 35 minutes! Didn't go there to play, as that's all they are doing with the place 8d building new play areas! There were no giraffes, no bunnies, zebras, tortoise, bears...as in the past! The animals looked as if they were saying let me be free! Dirty, over grown with weeds, injured deer, which went from like 50 to 10, no gators!! So disappointed! Time to close the doors folks!

I visited the zoo today for the 1st and last time. The only reason why we came to the zoo today was my daughter wanted to see Capybara. The website says that they are on exhibit. The area was empty. What a scam. I'm requesting a refund for our visit today. It was $50 for 2 adults and a cup of carrots to feed the animals. Absolutely terrible experience. Ended up jumping back in the car and going to Toledo Zoo.

No longer a zoo you can walk around. No kids under 10 allowed. They sold most the animals including giraffes. Now you have to pay $65/person for an encounter. Who can afford that? They gutted this place after they had an inspection that went poorly. Google it.

My experience was a little scary. I had taken a whole walk around the zoo and then went back to re-look at a couple exhibits. I noticed an employee has started following me. I quickly left the gift shop and returned to the parking lot where the same creepy employee took a picture of my car. I asked if she had a question about my car and she said yes but then went back inside. I got in the car, but then went back inside to ask about her odd behavior. She said people don't "usually come alone and text and take pictures of everything" (even though I saw other guests doing the same thing) . I asked for a refund since the employee had ruined my experience and I was refused. I will be disputing the charge on my credit card obviously but wanted to let other possible visitors know they risk harassment if they enter.

My first time was not the best experience. Too many animals with too little space. My husband and I took our 4&6 year old daughters on a very hot day and there was hardly any water for the animals. The water tub in the bear exhibit was bone dry and the little kiddie pool for the tortoises was sad. We walked by the “duck pond” which consisted of green sludge. The animals looked miserable. I was very disappointed and most likely will not make it back.

I walked away feeling sad for the animals. Almost no stimuli for most animals. Yes they have food and some shelter, but certainly not a natural habitat or anything close. The grounds themselves were in poor shape....overgrown weeds and grass in non- animal areas. Dirt and ruts everywhere. I watched moms trying to navigate their strollers down the rock pathways ( screenings would have been better). I watched children chasing around two obviously sick paratkeets in the bird enclosure ( no attendant present). The lone emu kept sticking his head out of the fence, I am sure out of boredom. The children's play area had broken equipment. All in all, a depressing visit. Please give the animals to a reputable zoo and close this place down.

I am disappointed in this zoo.

When we attended the parking lot was under construction. The edging of the area appears to been ‘hogged’ out – that is the trees and shrubs were ripped out or pressed into the earth. A layer of clay and gravel was laid on top. I would not expect that to be a long term issue, however, there were no ‘Sorry for our Appearance’ signs. That would have been appropriate because the appearance was less than appearing.

My real disappointment began in the ticketing area. There was a sickly sweet odor that I was having trouble placing. It concerned me because the room was full of toys and food for children. I was told later that it was because of some goat cheese that was on sale but it seemed to be emanating from the reptile exhibits which were placed in the walls immediately facing on the ticketing area where the food and toys previously mentioned are.
Yuck!

When I got outside the first thing I saw was the chicken coop. The birds seemed to be in good shape. They were quite large. There were two guinea fowl in the coop. There were two unclaimed eggs that appeared to have been there for a couple of days at least. The coop itself appeared to be showing its age. There was accumulated detritus from the trees above weighing down the top screen.
Nearby was a pig exhibit. The shelters for the pigs are very small. The one I saw was exactly the size of the pig. I believe it was some sort of a boar. I couldn’t tell. It didn’t exit its house and the exhibit was closed.

Further along was a large cage with two small monkeys in it. Obviously not from the area they appeared a little on the exposed side. The cage was uninteresting and barren. I didn’t see any fresh fruit in the cage though there appeared to be some food in there.

Around the corner were some other monkeys. They were unlabeled. They were isolated in separate cages. They looked forlorn. The cages were barren and uninteresting. They were exposed to the elements.

There was a cage with two small baby black bears in it. No mother. They were taking turns tearing up a piece of black cloth they had pulled off the top of the cage. One of them busied itself chewing on the straw on top of its bamboo ‘shelter’. The cage was stark and small especially for two bear cubs.

Next was the caribou enclosure. One male was moving around the pen aggressively. The other caribou sat in the small lean-to in the back. The enclosure is small, poorly drained and devoid of greenery. There was no fresh, dry feed.
Further along we came to an enclosure with wallabies. There were two albino wallabies. One of them appeared to have some sort of eye infection. Two others seemed to have trouble with their eyes. The lot was somewhat spacious but had only one manger. It was poorly drained and smelled.

They have a small herd of tortoises. They were moving about. The compound was generally dry but it smelled. There didn’t seem to be any fresh feed and the water was questionable as little as there was. The area was denuded of greenery.
They have a small flock of alpaca. At least one of them appeared to be wildly hungry. The others appeared to be slim. They had recently been sheared by they certainly didn’t appear up to an optimum weight.

In the Zebra cage there was a Zedonk – a cross between a Zebra and a Donkey, a female Zebra that appeared to be in the early stages of pregnancy and a Zebra colt. There didn’t appear to be a male so I am hard pressed to imagine what’s going on there. They have a ‘Zebra Feeding Slide’ which is a rubber tire cut in half and nailed to a board. You slide pieces of carrot down the slide where it lands between the steel cage and a concrete pad. The animals need to dig it out with their hooves or pull it out with their lips. There is a large nail sticking out of the end of the slide where little hands might be. The paddock was uninteresting poorly drained.
The giraffe paddock was also poorly drained.

They have one Timberwolf. It paces back and forth without cessation. The enclosure is heavily wooded and brushed but uninteresting. The wolf has worn two tracks.

The bison enclosure was filthy and poorly drained. It had a heavy stench.
They keep a small number of alligators in an open, caged area.

They have a duck pen. They were filling the pond while we were there. It seemed overcrowded. It smelled. The ducks were actively trying to get a drink of fresh water from the hose being used to fill the pond (which is a cement pool). The feed did not look fresh.

Along with these items park staff were roaring around in large carts. The sounds of screeching wheels coming a stop or turning were common. Be wary with children and the elderly if you decided to go to this place.

If you remember how the Toledo zoo used to be and how easy it was to see and interact with the animals, you have a glimpse into the Indian Creek Zoo. You can pass food to a monkey via a can attached to a chain - and the monkey pulls the chain to get it! You can also feed many of the animals including the giraffe. But the best part is standing next to the animals with just a wire fence between you! A wonderful outing for all ages!

We actually passed the place and had to turn around. Bug spray is provided inside the gift shop to use for free. It's located in the middle of the woods. They have a really nice gift shop and the employees are very friendly. It's also a great value at $8.00 per adult, $6.00 per child. They also have feed available for purchase to give some of the animals. The walk is nice and they have a variety of animals to pet/view. Great place to take a ton of photos. We will be back again. =)
