Just recently used Michigan Beer Tours for my sisters bachelorette party. John was so helpful with setting everything up and was quick to respond to my emails. We had a wonderful tour guide Kassie, who was very knowledgeable about all the craft breweries we attended. I would recommend for anyone to sign up for this fabulous tour.

John put together a trip for us where we were picked up in a bus and then taken to several local breweries in town. While anyone can do that, what John and West Michigan Beer Tours were able to was give us the story behind each brewery, introduce us to the owners or head brewmasters and make the beers come alive. John's knowledge of the industry and the various breweries we visited was fantastic. We learned a ton and had a wonderful time.

We visit downtown Kalamazoo a number of times a year. It is a great atmosphere and so much to do. John and West Michigan Beer Tours taught us so much and we had a great time. John gave us a lot of Kalamazoo history and introduced us to two breweries that we did not know were there. We also visited Acardia and Boatyard Brewing. Bells was our last stop, which we have been to multiple times, and we took their free tour, at John's recommendation and it was fun and informative. It is a lot of walking and you will get your 10,000 steps in, but a great afternoon and will definitely attend again.

These people have a huge passion for craft beer. They are professional and customer service is top-notch. Whenever we head back to West Michigan we will be planning to be part of one of the tours and some day I hope we have a chance to book another private tour like we had this weekend. Andrea was patient and fun to have as our guide (we're a bit on the crazy side but I think she took it all in stride, or at very least lead us all to believe that she had!)
Between our formal tour on Saturday, the special extras, helping us book great hotels at awesome rates and the extra perks they arranged for the day after our tour, they truly went above and beyond. I will recommend West Michigan Beer Tours and John & Aric to everyone that'll listen! Thank you!

We had a private tour for 4 on a Friday afternoon - Daniel was our tour guide. Started at Arcadia Brewing and made our way West to Bell's, Tibbs, Gonzzos, and ended up at Rupert's. Our tour guide was great and had a wealth of knowledge about beer, in general, as well as each brewery and their brewers. I'd highly recommend this to anyone visiting Kalamzoo!

My wife and I took the Tour with John over the long 4th weekend. It was very casual and at a nice pace. The factory tours were very informative and you got to drink beer the entire time during the tours. We are going again with some friends next month. Highly recommend getting a room for the night and enjoying all of the KZOO nightlife.

We started our tour at Hop Cat, then walked to Arcardia, Boatyard, and Bell's. Hop cat is just a starting point and no drinks were included with the tour. Arcadia and Boatyard both included brewery tours and free samples. Bell's we got a drink of choice, we wish there would have been something formal at Bell's. Would love to do another tour and see some of the other breweries downtown Kalamazoo!

Thanks for the review - we are glad you enjoyed the tour and would love to host you for another! Currently we have 7 within walking distance, by next year we could be up to 8 or 9. So we will keep offering different routes. Cheers! Aric

I am not one to write reviews good or bad. In this case, I could not resist.

$40 to walk through a rough part of town, drink just a couple taster size beers and see the brewing process of 2 tiny breweries could not have been a bigger disappointment.

The first brewery we toured assigned a kid that clearly lacked the knowledge of the business, which is the duty of being a guide. I have been on other tours. This was bad. Also, we spent an hour plus sitting there. The tour started at 1 pm so I have no idea why they allotted that time for us to buy food from the brewery. I can only assume they wanted us to buy their food?

I have been to Kalamazoo twice prior tasting the local brew and consider the second brewery we went to the least likely to survive of all 8 I have been to. Of the tasters served, my father and I dumped 2 of them. They were barely drinkable. The owner was also half drunk and arrogant as can be. Not a good look as far as I am concerned.

We could have easily tried more beers and breweries (responsibly of course) in much less time on our own. I am not sure what we paid for? If you are going to provide a tour service, I would assume for $40 they could at least arrange a bus of some sort.

The guides from West MI Beer Tours were nice and fairly knowledgeable but lacked control of keeping things moving. By the time we arrived at Bells I was incredibly annoyed with how long the tour took and how very little if anything we learned.

My advice is to spend 10 minutes on the internet, pick the 3 or 4 breweries you want to see/try and guide yourself. If you spend $40, please have a DD! We certainly didn't need one...

While we are disappointed you did not have a good time, we appreciate the feedback. For each tour we typically pair a small and large breweries with different ownership, beer styles, and brewers for a diverse tour experience. For the walking tour we allow 45 minutes at each stop, so guests can comfortably get a tour, each their pint or tasters, and have some extra time to purchase an additional beer or food. Although we are proud of the great feedback we get on our tours, it seems there is more we can do. If you are interested in sharing more, please give me a call to discuss. Aric

Enjoyed the Women in West MI Beer tour on Apr 26, 2014...especially since it focused on brewsters! The tour ladies took complete care of us, from the well arranged in-brewery presentations, to the in-bus snacks and informational chats. My favorite part of the tour--the visit to Hop Head Farms! Can't have a great beer without great hops and we have them here! I will be back to see these fellas in full-height over 20'!! Educational in the best format I could ever imagine, am glad we have so many craft breweries to make as destinations with your tours!!

Kathy, I appreciate you taking the time to review our tour. Lisa and Beth really enjoyed guiding your group. If you enjoyed Hop Head Farms, you should check out our September 6 Harvest Tour. Most likely it will be posted on our website in the next week or so. It will be departing from Grand Rapids and will visit Hop Head during harvest season. We will help harvest some hops and then travel to a brewery that uses those hops. Cheers! Aric
