I adore this place

I have never had a less than perfect experience here. We started frequenting The Frog in May of 18' and honestly, I can't think of a better place to hang out on a weekend night. The beers are wonderful, the company is incredible and the atmosphere can not be overstated. They really do a wonderful job of making everyone feel welcome. It doesn't matter if you're a first timer or you belly up several times a week, they never cease to amaze. I'm shocked that this place isn't packed to the gills every day of the week. If you're in the area, this is a must stop. If you're not from Jackson, you'll wish there was a place like this in your town.

Unique little micro brewery

Very cute (micro brewery) bar with a tropical froggy feel. The bar top is all inlaid color bottle tops. The bar seats seven and it has eight tables. There is also a pool table in a separate room that is free! There’s Live music every Friday and Saturday. Although we didn’t eat, they have a small menu that serves appetizers, sandwiches and desserts. See photo for menu. Their mug club costs $150 per year. For that you get a blown glass mug (and they are really, really nice), $1 off 22 oz pours for one year from purchase and lastly, 12 monthly growlers fills for $1 each. What a deal!! They also have happy hour from 4-6 pm Monday thru Friday with. 20 oz pours for $4. On Tuesday there’s half off growlers if you bring your own growler in for a fill. Selections change, but we had a choice of FroggerXP, apricot rye ale, raspberry wheat and more.

I wish them success...but they have a ways to go.

Two of us arrived at the Poison Frog Brewery while touring Jackson micro-breweries & wineries. The bright decor and artwork, while interesting, did not provide the 'mood' we were seeking. The seating, tables, and interior enironment was simple.... not comfortable for us.
Beer offerings were varied and visitors should be able to land upon a favorite, but snacks & munchies were sparce, consisting of pre-packaged single serving chips/ pretzels.
Two others in our group arrived and waited an unacceptably long time to get served as the owner casually chatted with another patron, and family wait staff went about other business.
I eventually interrupted the owner in order to get served.

We finished and moved on with no acknowledgement from owner or staff despite our wave and "Thanks" as exiting.

We found no passion for product, little description of beer offerings, no one to talk them up, and untrained family staff.
I hope others have a better experience.

delightful little micro brewery

I was lucky to pick an afternoon/evening when Phil, one of the owners, happened to be behind the bar. He was very engaging, friendly and informative. Not only did he share his knowledge about brewing beer and mead, but also about the critters after which the place is named -- POISON FROGs.
There are a few aquariums containing them against the walls of the pub.
My experience was far more positive than it had been at the ill-fated Local Pub aka Jaxon Brewing, circa 2010-2011, also run by Phil.
I enjoyed a glass of Kolsch beer and a glass of Summer Wheat beer, (happy hour priced) along with one shot each of three different meads. In the process, I enjoyed friendly conversation with both Phil and a few fellow customers. The growler I took home, for future enjoyment, (reasonably price @ $12) contains the mellow Kolsch. Driving away, I got on the car phone and called a fellow craft beer lover to tell him we both need to go back soon.
Being a true MICRO brewery, the selection, like the capacity, is very limited. Never the less, Poison Frog offers wine, mead, and vodka along with craft beer. Special events include live music some nights.
While this may be one of the newer breweries in Jackson, it should not be disregarded -- despite being much more intimate than the biggie downtown, there is plenty of bar seating or, more private, tables in two different rooms. Food is currently limited to snacks. But, Phil said a menu is coming soon.
