About
Back in 1903, the Original Stormy Kromer Cap was built with quality fabric, carefully handcrafted in the U.S. It was authentic, rugged and durable - perfect for George "Stormy" Kromer, a hard-working railroad engineer. After repeatedly losing his cap on the windy locomotive, he asked his wife Ida to make him a new one, with a snug, pulldown earband to keep it in place. In 2001, the Jacquart family in Ironwood, Michigan, bought the company and brought Stormy Kromer to their thriving sewing factory - Jacquart Fabric Products. Today, we produce a full line of quality, rugged, American made outdoor apparel that is sold all over the world. We offer free tours of our factory so you can see for yourself how our iconic products are made.

Hooray!!! After having our tour canceled last year we were so excited to come to the Stormy tour & we were not disappointed. We loved to hear the history of factory & brand. The tour guide was the owner & recently retired ceo and his passion was evident in every word the spoke. Definitely a high point of our week in the Upper Peninsula.

This has long been on our list to visit with its ties to our home state of Wisconsin. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 tours were not being given. But we did get the chance to visit the factory outlet. It is a very neat and tidy store with lots to choose from, both brand new and outlet items. We were greeted warmly by the staff member and each found our own Stormy Kromer hat to take home with us. The store has well-posted and website policies due to COVID that do include mask requirements which we appreciated. We had a fantastic experience and look forward to returning when the factory tours restart. I am sure we will find other goodies to take home!

The tours were not open when we were there due to covid, but that didn't stop us from taking photos with the big hat outside and going in to purchase a hat and a mask. It was fun to look through and try on their merchandise. Staff were very helpful. Just a note: I do not believe there are public bathrooms here, so plan accordingly.

The salesperson was very helpful to go us find the correct cap size and te us about theircslaes items.
My wife purchased a purple plaid cap and a gray plaid cap for me.
We really love them.
Tours were not available at the time of our visit but we really had a beat experience shopping at the store.

Great place , to hear the story of their history is neat . Take the tour and see small town pride and a small business that knows how to brand and market their products. Be careful over the years I️ have acquired a slew of their hats. Make Great gifts. Quality products

LOVED our tour of the SK Factory! Bob Jacquart “The Owner” was our tour guide. Says that he is known to pick up the slack on Fridays with the 1:30 tour. Factory store was typical and full of great merchandise. Lots of historical and “Stormy Kromer” memorabilia. Happy to hear how much this local business is working to support their staff and community. So many special projects - helping the local community and MI writ large.

Tent sale had many bargains. Factory tour was interesting; story of its history enhanced the tour. Lucky us, the owner gave us the tour which lasted 1.5 hours! Amazing all the things they make and how enterprising the owner is to find new products to produce and market. SK is an important employer in the city.

Great background and informative tour of an excellent american made product. Tour took you through the raw material to packaging. Fun way to see the products made and the quality that goes into each piece.

The tour was very interesting. Lots of history and quality, American-made clothing, cat towers and bedding. The people making the items were very friendly, as was the tour guide.
