There's a new viewing deck at the top of Mt. Zion that offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape. You can see Lake Superior and Copper Peak's ski flying jump in the distance.

Excellent views of the surrounding countryside. Unfortunately we missed the peak fall colors by a week.

Great views from the top of Mt Zion -- You can see Copper Peak Ski Jump from the observation platform. To the right of the ski lift, it's wild that there is a 2.5-million-gallon water tank buried beneath the ground.

Stopped here to stretch our legs and take in the views.... Man are we glad that we did while passing through the area. The lookout was beautiful! Our daughter loved it, my wife loved it and even I thought it was cool. Best part was it didn't cost us a thing.
While visiting we happened to run into a group of people we began talking to that were all from the town my wife and I had gone to high school in.... Rockford, IL..... They even graduated from the same high school as us.
Rockford East High! They were classes of "67-76" I was "03"
Once an E-Rab always an E-Rab
Cheers to the Mackey's for taking some family photos for us! Small world.

Drove up to the overlook and enjoy the view. Spectacular. Can only imagine the view from the ski lift in the winter! Free and places to stand and sit safely or enjoy a picnic lunch (take-out pizza!). Port-a-potties available.

We visited this park several times. The views are spectacular! We also took advantage of the picnic area, although the tables are in the sun.

Thank you for your review! We love to hear that you visited the park more than once. We will look at how the picnic area can be better situated.

Though it is a downhill ski location, I have skied to the top with my XC skiis a number of times. I have walked the road to the top when there was no snow. It is a healthy hike and not for a medically compromised individual. The views of the surrounding area are worth the exercise to get there.

If you are learning to ski, not matter what age, there is NO other place to start than Mr. Zion. The Hill is small but completely run by the Community College students that in Ski Hill Management. GREAT, TOP of the Line snow making equipment, get your skis waxed here half the price anywhere else.

We didn't go here to ski, but went up to see the sunset from the newly built observation deck! What a fantastic view! You can see Lake Superior in the distance. It is easily accessible for wheelchairs so we plan to go back and take our mothers there. No stairs to climb -- just a short walk to the observation deck. It was a little difficult to find, though. It is behind Gogebic Community College and was built by the students who also manage the ski hill. The sign on Hwy 2 isn't very clear going east. We passed it, came back and saw it better going west. The actual turn-off to the top isn't marked at all either. Look for the yellow gate and go through there. We went back the next day after a storm had passed and that was an awesome view as well.

Perfect for beginner to moderately skilled skier, perfect for families. Don't expect a lot and you will be very happy....it's a small scale ski area and very economical.
