This event occurs within the Sleeping Bear National Park so be prepared to purchase a $15, 7 day pass, or a $30 annual pass for each vehicle entering the park. The passes are good for all areas of the park (Pierce Stocking drive, Dune climbs, etc.). Everyone at the Honor Trading Post was kind and pleasant to work with; all... More

If you are looking for a great easy and relaxing afternoon to spend with your family and friends. Then renting tubes from the Honor Trading Post to float down the Platte River is the perfect way to spend part of the day. The staff are friendly helpful and they have everything you need right at their little store. We rented... More

First of all you are required to buy a national park parking pass at $15 Which was not very clear when booking the trip,. they did not offer the discounts when selling you the parking pass .. military is free , disabled is free senior 62 and over is $10 so ask for the discounts.. also do the early float... Everyone we met at the Trading Post was both kind and fun. They were good ambassadors for their business. There were about seven of us--five adults and two kids--and we all thoroughly loved this adventure. It was billed as a 2-hour trip up the Platte River, but turned out to be 2 1/2 hours due to Michigan's semi-drought. I for... More

It was very busy when we went and the fact we brought our own tubes seemed confusing but eventually everything got sorted. When it came to loading the tubes however, no one alerted them to us and we had to "show paperwork" (i.e. A receipt). It was also confusing when to get off and on the shuttle. In the end... More

We initially had a 10:00 am reservation for a trip on Thursday. When we got up- the weather called for rain in the afternoon. However by the time we got to the trading post (we were staying 45 minutes away in Traverse City) the winds had switched and there was a storm coming through. They recommended that we wait it... We have a cottage on Deadstream Road and love the convenience of having the Trading Post down the street! Everything from ice for the cooler, renting tubes/bikes/kayaks, buying pizza, water shoes, snacks, drinks and even sweatshirts (when you come to visit and find yourself under packed for the cool Michigan evenings!)... this small place has what you need!

We went on the 2 1/2 hour trip down the lower Platte river over the fourth of July weekend. It was myself, my husband and our two sons 11 and 5. We did the trip with 2 kayaks ( 2 person kayaks) an adult and a child in each. The owner was very helpful when I made our reservation over... More

After seven years of spending time at SBLE north of Empire, we decided to head to the Platte River Campground, located in Honor MI. Wanting to canoe on the Platte river we were given names of three places at the ranger station. After a conversation with the owner of the Trading Post, we decided to rent from there. The first... The Trading Post is a very popular stop on the way to the Lake Michigan shore. It is open during the day and is quick and convenient place to purchase a few items rather than taking the drive to Honor. You can get the things you have forgotten as well as drinks and some hot foods. As it was past... More
