We had a FANTASTIC time kayaking down the upper Platte River on see through kayaks! First of all, if you fail to bring beverages Tipsy Canoe can sell them to you and even rent you a cooler. Thank you Zelda for the good advice and help on only doing the upper Platte given my inexperience. It was a lovely, peaceful 90 minute journey, plenty for me being a novice. When we made the 2nd right in the fork(as instructed) the water flow was lightly against us but it was very doable and a nice light workout. Once we reached the exit point, Zelda was there to pick us up very quickly after I texted her(less than 10 minutes). We may try paddle boards next month!!

Prior to booking, I called and spoke with a young man who informed me that I needed to book online to ensure that the team would know we were coming and have the kayaks ready that following Wednesday. I booked 2 kayaks for the following Wednesday to be picked up at 11am. We arrived at 10:45am and patiently waited in the parking lot for opening. At 11:05 we ended up walking into an adjoining business to inquire about our reservation. After several phone calls were made, it appeared that the opening employee had overslept and would be on his way. The adjoining business was very helpful and had us sign the waivers and even loaded everything up so that when the "opener" arrived we would be ready to go. The opening employee ended up arriving around 11:40am, did not apologize or mention his tardiness, and just seemed scattered. We informed him that everything was loaded and ready to go and off we went.

On our way, we were asking questions about our trip (the Lower Platte), none of which he could answer because he had never been on that float before.

My husband ended up helping unload and we began our trip with the knowledge that we were to call when we were ready to return (we had done an all-day rental so that we would have plenty of time to enjoy ourselves), it would take 10-15 minutes for them to arrive at the pick-up. When I called and identified ourselves and stated that we were ready to be picked up, the young man again seemed confused and asked if I was ready NOW. I assured him that yes, we were ready and asked him to come pick us up.

My husband helped load the kayaks, and we were headed back. It was 3:30pm and we asked if the bar was open yet. He told us they opened at 4pm but assured us he would "talk with the boss lady" and he was sure she would serve us a beer a little early.

When we arrived, my husband tipped him $10 and we thanked him, then loaded our personal items back into the truck while he went inside. I went to the building to use the restroom as he came out and announced he was "outta there" and left. When we used the restrooms and chatted with the friendly owner, it was obvious that our "guide" had not mentioned that we were wanting a beer, so we chatted for a bit and left.

I hesitated to leave this review as I do not like to dwell on negativity, but when we paid for an all-day rental starting at 11am, then I expect our RESERVATION to be honored. I also understand that things come up and emergencies happen, but in the case where an employee simply oversleeps, some concessions or apologies would be welcomed to the customer...
