About
Coppercraft Distillery creates a full line of handcrafted spirits distilled from Vendome copper stills. We celebrate the harvest, as well as our shared passion for hard work to create our lineup of clear spirits, and various whiskeys that have been aging in charred white-oak barrels. We celebrate our love for the craft in our two uniquely different locations, Holland and Saugatuck. Based in Holland, our distillery and restaurant offers a full bar of handcrafted, premium cocktails & a seasonally changing menu of American gastro food with a few southern touches. Every Thursdays, we host live music entertainment from a variety of local artists. Our Saugatuck tasting room is an extension of the distillery located just 13 miles down the road. Here we offer samples to taste and is the perfect place for a quick stop to pick up a bottle to go. Coppercraft has won multiple awards, including a Gold and Best in Category for its Cask Strength Bourbon from the American Distilling Institute in 2016. We are proud to reclaim America’s tradition of handcrafting premium spirits from grain to glass using authentic ingredients grown by local farmers.

We toured the distillery with Travis, one of the distillers, who explained things clearly and answered all the questions we had. My brother-in-law who has been on the Kentucky bourbon tour 5 times, said this was the best tour he has had. Our table was waiting for us for the tasting. We tasted 4 of their products and then enjoyed a delicious dinner.

We took a family vacation to MI and had a siblings night out. We started the night with a tour at Coppercraft and Stephania was the best! We didn't want to leave and go to our next destination ha! She was so fun and personable. Her knowledge of the facility and the history behind Coppercraft was awesome. The other two workers there were very accommodating and friendly as well. Thank you for a memorable experience!

My husband and I had drinks here one Tuesday evening. There currently is no food served here. But the drinks we had were delicious and our server/bartender was very helpful and pleasant. She even recommended a great place for us for dinner. Would definitely stop here again for a drink if in the area.

Took a group from work for a mixology class, followed by a tour, and then dinner. The class was great - learned to make a couple of tasty cocktails and had fun doing it. Tour was informative. Dinner was great - good food and good service. Would do it again in a minute. Thanks to the team there for a great evening!

I’m a bourbon, whiskey, and scotch guy. I’ve been to distilleries all over the world, and all throughout true bourbon country, hitting all on the Kentucky bourbon trail, and Many off the trail, and I have family members who are distillers. These folks? Avoid them. First, it smacks of a chain vibe. Seems like you’re walking in to any restaurant that’s trying to be too cool for school. Do some digging and you’ll find out they’ve been acquired by the DeVos family (think Betsy DeVos and, yes, it’s that family). Check out their own branding and you’ll see they’re relatively new kids on the block, being founded in 2012. Ask the staff questions about their product? Blank stares and “I don’t knows.” Multiple times, from multiple staff members. And what’s truly sad, is not so much they don’t know a single thing about their product, it’s that we had to ask in the first place. We had to ask them. No pride in their product. No one even excited to be there. No one even stepping up to say, “hey thanks for stopping by, check out our awesome products, look around, and here’s what we are doing and how we are making something you can’t get any where else.” No, nothing like that at all. Nothing. Not a single word. Not a single sliver of anything remotely approaching pride in their craft. Not even basic customer service. Then, as I mentioned, once you do ask, you’ll get no answers. Source for grain? No idea. Local farmers? No idea. Blending make up/percentages on the blends/ryes? No idea. History of their brand? No idea. The story of how they started? No idea. One staff member even was surprised to learn they now work for the DeVos family. When I asked about the aging on their so-called “cask strength” straight “bourbon,” I was told it was 11 years. The bottle has no age statement. These guys have been in business since 2012. So obviously there’s a math problem here. When asked who did the aging, who was distilling/aging this before you came on the scene in 2012? You guessed it, “I don’t know.” was the response. When I asked for this “cask strength,” I was handed the bottle in the picture. It’s just over 46% ABV. That’s no cask strength. That’s been diluted. But the staff were clueless as to this point, and even wanted to argue the point, despite the fact that they admitted to not knowing the meaning of “cask strength” in bottling, or in this process at all. There was one little bespectacled fella working behind the bar who seemed to have a major problem with every question asked of him, had a massive attitude for apparently having to be at work, and didn’t want to help us at all (we were the only patrons there). We were going to eat there, but were so put off by the bad attitudes, ignorance and down right inhospitable treatment, that we left after paying for our sample tastings. On that note, their straight “bourbon” was average, at best, and you’ll do far better by going to any other establishment, or just going and buying a bottle of fine Kentucky bourbon, than by wasting your time with these ignorant, apathetic kids. It’s very telling that when you first arrive, you’ll notice their awning/roofing covering their entrance is broken and has not been repaired. A busted, broken entrance, tells you all you need to know about what you’ll find inside. Calling it - DeVos or no, these guys will not be long for this world. Avoid at all costs.

So, I'm a distillery guy. I KNOW my distilleries. I was excited to learn that my friend lived very near one during my recent visit. She's not been, so it was a perfect opportunity to learn about it together.

Upon arrival, it looks like a chain food restaurant. It doesn't really have a vibe that would lend itself to being a distillery. I guess my history has been that old buildings are converted into this new purpose vs. being built NEW. No big deal. I got over it. Besides, they have TONS of great outdoor seating and tasting areas. However, they were all closed upon our arrival.

Once inside, you realize, OK...now I'm in a distillery. You see the copper kettles and various mechanisms encased behind glass. You're surrounded by several areas for tasting and a main bar at the end of the room. The decor is a nice mix of metal and wood. It's a warm, visually, which goes well with whiskey and other spirits.

We were seated and immediately began to review the various menus. Unfortunately, we had just missed happy hour, so uncertain what that would have offered.

I wanted to order a flight, as that's always my first step. See what the spirits taste like and go from there, regarding whether I want to go whiskey, gin or vodka as a drink.

It was quite disappointing to learn that they were out of the main items I wanted to order!!! How is this possible? I saw in several other reviews that they too had experienced the same thing. How can you have a business, yet have no product? HUGE mistake.

I adjusted and made the best of a disappointing situation. I ordered the gin, vodka and 2 of the available whiskeys. Of the 4, I really only enjoyed the gin. The vodka tasted like rubbing alcohol and the whiskies were nothing special. It was then that I learned that their gin had been awarded. The ONLY one. Made complete sense.

After a disappointing tasting experience, I then tried to order off of the menu. The drink options were not that exciting to me. I soon then learned that they only use house made mixers. They didn't have a fully stocked bar - part of their concept. I think this is second mistake. No product and then no flexibility in ordering? Not cool.

Then I asked where do we sign up for the tour. I was excited to step in the back and learn about their process. I was then promptly told that the tours were suspended while they complete some updates/repairs. WHAT?!! No tours! No product? No flexibility in orders?

The only redeeming experience, thus providing a 2 rating, was the cauliflower appetizer. It was THEE BEST cauliflower sampling I've ever experienced. Thank goodness the chef has their act together. We decided to leave and get our dinner elsewhere. We wanted to be able to drink, along with our dinner, and Coppercraft just didn't seem to have their act together.

A manager did come over and talk to us about the distillery and the circumstances. I think they would do themselves a good one, if they updated their website to provide status on their product, their concept (no orders outside of their menu) and when the tours will start again. Had that all been listed for my review, I would have waited to visit.

Saying I'm Holland for weekend. Looking for something different. Saw this. Checked the website said it was open. Drove over to the place and it was locked up tighter than a drum. Very disappointed. Please update your website

We checked in around 630 for dinner and the hostess told us we would have a 20 minute wait. We ended up waiting for 1.5 hours to even sit down and then a lot longer to get our food and drinks. Food was pretty good, my tacos were cold when I got them! But I do know my family enjoyed the food that they got. Also the ruby Moscow mule was delicious.

We stopped in for the distillery tour, just $5, what a deal! The tour is not long, about 45 minutes, but you learn a lot and get to sample their Bourbon. The staff is very knowledgeable and fun. The food looked amazing, but we did not eat there as we were on our way to a Whitecaps game. I love Bourbon and there's is smooth and delicious! I hate Gin, but there's is the best I've tried and I will definitely try it in a cocktail the next time we go. If you like whiskey, you must try their canned Whiskey Lemonade!!

I'm serious about my cocktails and this place was a great find during a recent trip to Michigan. We were there during the day and the place was quiet and service friendly. Excellent selection of creative and classic cocktails, and we also tried a flight of the spirits - I especially liked the gin. Ended up with a bottle of bourbon to go...Worth checking out if you're in the area.
