This is a wonderful state park. Enjoy swimming, or sun bathing, or just watching the boats travel the channel. The sunsets can be brilliant and the light house is picturesque. When taking pictures, avoid including the tacky disney esque house on the south side of...More

Love this state park beach. Lovely place the watch the sun set, watch kiteboarders on a windy day, or simply walk the beach or boardwalk. We love this place. Can't get enough of it.

Love the large beach and view of the lighthouse and sandy bluff. I love the west side of the state and Lake Michigan. Pretty drive from Holland with views of beautiful homes. A beautiful area.

The beach is tight but the lines are covered with sand so parking is only as big as you could see where. The place is crawling with kids. We took the last spot in the park in a handicapped site close to the bathrooms. We...More

Macatawa lake is right in front of Holland state park and probably 30 mins tomorrow lake Michigan. They are both beautiful but macatawa lake is less busy if you find the right spot.

Does anyone know how long of a drive it is from the FairField Inn on West Shore Drive to either Holland State Park or Tunnel Park? Thanks

Beach Access (9 Replies)
I have been researching the beaches in and around Holland. I see that Holland State Park charges a fee to enter and its $8 per person. Is that correct or it is $8 per car? Are there any other beaches that you can access for free? I do not mind driving to other beaches. I have a 4 yr old and staying at the beacdh all day is not an option so i am looking to get the most bng for my buck.

For non state residents it is $8 per car for the day. Holland State Park has a lot to offer for $8. Tunnel Park is a Ottawa County Park about 3 miles north of the state park. They also charge a daily use fee. If you get to the state park early enough in the day, there is a very small beach area on Lake Mac that many of the campers use. Its located right across from the Ottawa Beach Inn Restaurant near the campground. There is very limited street parking, and this beach would not be on Lake...More

Beach near Piper? (1 Replies)
We're heading to the Piper restaurant and are wondering if there are any nice beach areas nearby without driving around lake Macatowa to Holland State Park. Thanks!

I'm not aware of any. In the old days when Point West was still out there you drive out and get to the beach. I think they close the road to the public shortly after the Piper now. Good question, I'd like to know also.
