Four Main Stage plays every summer for the past 40+ years. The first play in 2017 kicks off on June 16 with "Working" and the finial performance will be August 12 with the musical "Annie". Performances begin at 7:30PM at DeWitt Auditorium on the campus of Hope College. I've been attending these performances for 40 years and they are wonderful. Single ticket prices range from $40.00 for an Adult musical to 15 for a youth play. Performances run continuously throughout the week except Sunday. The other play thus year is "Driving Miss Daisy" and the other musical is "A View From the Bridge" for tickets call 616-395-7890

Knowing how popular the Hope Summer Repertory Theatre is I expected a large auditorium for a sold-out show at seasons end. Surprise! the show was excellent- and the small cast extraordinary - but the theater itself was small and very intimate. I almost felt like part of the show with my front row seat and I was surprised that it wasn't sold out knowing that earlier shows had been. My good fortune! As I travel to the Grand Rapids area every summer I will have to check show scedules next year and visit again.

Sure the weather is mostly fantastic in W MI in the short summer but if you yearn for something to do that doesn't involve sun exposure or lakes you don't have an array of options.

However the Summer Rep at Hope College provides a great relief with a clever selection of pieces from experimental to drama to comedy to musicals. Despite what one could guess is a small budget they do a terrific job with every show, and it's actually possible to see the entire season without blowing your summer entertainment budget. Dollar for dollar you'll do far better here than enduring the horrendous summer movies now foisted on America by that wholly unimaginative industry.

We've enjoyed almost everything we've seen at Hope, especially in the past few summers, and are looking forward to next season.

The only real caveat is how uncomfortable the seats are—time to replace the cushions!

Live orchestra, great singing, some outstanding dancers and a theater with no bad seats. What more could you want?

Live theater can be very entertaining in a way that movies can’t match. There is something intimate about performers working in front of a live audience. There are no second chances to get it right and when they pull it off it is quite impressive.

The Hope College summer theater program is excellent and we always pick up at least one show each year. This year we saw the Wiz and it was definitely worth the trip. The lead ((Dorothy) is an outstanding singer and very expressive in her acting. The other singers were outstanding as well and it would be difficult to pick out the best performer.

Some of the dancers in particular the “yellow brick road” were outstanding and quite entertaining to watch. This show is a must see this year!

Enjoy!

Staff were very pleasant and courteous. Not a bad seat in the house. We called ahead to get front row center mezzanine tickets. Saw 'The Odd Couple' and enjoyed it immensely! Great performance and cast. Very professional. We had a heck of a time finding the place. Do not use Google Maps to get here - you'll be late. Would like to see more signage to guide you.
