As part of our Battle Creek Day Away to learn more about the history of the city, we drove out to see the Kellogg Manor House. And it didn't disappoint, despite the house not open for tours due to COVID. Back in the 1920s, W.K. Kellogg and his wife Carrie built a most beautiful Tudor-style Manor House along Gull Lake. We walked around the house a couple of times to take in all the architectural elements, including the multicolored shingle roof, and even peek into a few windows. Then we walked the grounds (open dawn to dusk) to take in some of the estate sites, including the Caretaker's Cottage, the Windmill, and the Pagoda (pick up a brochure with a map at the House's front door). Worth the drive out of the city!

We arrived early to Battle Creek, MI as part of our driving vacation today. We looked for things to do nearby and found this GEM. The W. K. Kellogg Estate is beautiful and glorious. After almost 100 years, it has lovingly withstood the test of time thanks to the University of Michigan as it's deeded owner after the Kellogg's gifted it to them for keeping and research. Mr. Kellogg was a true philanthropist after amassing his fortunes inventing cereals and working very hard from a young age.
We were allowed to tour the manor house and grounds on a self guided tour. It was grand. The position of it on Gull lake made it grander. What a GEM.

This was a wonderful stop while on a motorcoach trip. Such a beautiful and lovely place. Very interesting to learn of Will Kellogg and his life. The grounds were beautiful. So peaceful. I loved it and would recommend all to go visit and check it out. If you enjoy seeing homes in the past and learning, you won't be disappointed.

First visited the Kellogg's Foundation building and was met by a security guard who was very helpful with providing information about Mr. Kellogg, family history, how the corn flakes came to be. Granted I was there on a week day where there wasn't much going on. I honestly did not expect to be caught up on the history of Kellogg's but the way he told the stories, the facts at his fingertips not only opens your eyes, but want to know more. The foyer has beautiful pieces of art and murals. And yes, he could tell you who, what, why of the art. Very impressive. The Kellogg Manor House is situated right behind the foundation's building. Make sure you call first if you want to tour the inside as it's not always open. I wasn't able to get in just peeped through the windows.

Overlooking Gull Lake is this historic and beautiful home of the Kellogg family. Restored in a lovely fashion. The docent was so knowledgeable about the home and the Kellogg family. The meal that followed the tour was exceptional. Excellent employees serving the meal, very friendly and helpful. Do not miss this summer home tour when you are in the area.

I visited the Manor House with a friend who was looking for a wedding venue. I am a photographer and I live in the area so I had been there many times before. This spectacular home was built in the 1920's and restored about 15 years ago. If you love architecture and history, this is the place to visit even if it's only a day trip! The grounds and gardens are stunning especially with Gull Lake as a backdrop. And, yes, it was originally the home of the cereal guy!

I have visited the Manor House for various work functions/dinners. The setting is lovely... especially on the terrace during the nice weather where you get a peak-through views of Gull Lake (nothing expansive due to the large trees in the way). The catering is ok -- pretty typical business catering fare I would say. nothing standout about it. The historical significance of the manor is great and often times a tour is offered.

Our daughter had her wedding reception at the Manor House. It was fabulous. The staff is amazing and the food....the BEST! they have a chef who prepares the most amazing dishes, right from the cafeteria that is located next door to the Manor House. We were given a tour by Nicole, inside and out, and we knew it was the right place for our daughter's wedding reception. It gave me chills. What a setting. In November they have local artists displaying their wares (for purchase) throughout the home, which has been beautifully decorated for the holidays. Take a drive along Gull Lake and be sure to stop at the Manor House for a tour!
