This is an amazing phenomenon. The rocky point on which the sturgeon would sun themselves has been turned into a public park. The adjacent lighthouse adds to the experience.

Sturgeon Point State Park is off the beaten path, but really worth a visit. Not only is the lighthouse impressive, there is also an old wooden boat and an old school house. 🅿️🚾

The east coast of the lower peninsula is a bit lacking in attractions, and this is one of the top ones that we have seen. The grounds are well maintained, the lighthouse is nice, the beach is full of polished stones, and the beach is easy to access from multiple points. Toilets are primitive but there is one there to use. Reviews for Sturgeon Point Lighthouse and the Bailey School for similar reviews and more information.
