My daughter, her two boys and I want to thank all of you for a great day last Sunday. Sitting in a tank is something we never expected to happen. Then putting on a parachute was something I never would have done in my lifetime. Steve's demonstration was very interesting, and he did a great job explaining the entire process. Steve and other employees made it an awesome day. (and I love my new coffee mug from the gift shop. Thanks again!!!

Great museum with lots to see. They have 34 planes on display and you can go on 3 of them. They also have an indoor museum with the history of Selfridge, and the aircraft in WWI, WWII, etc Knowledgeable volunteers on staff. Located on the Selfridge Air Base so when you go, make sure you have an ID and all your car information(insurance and registration) because they do check you out. Open Saturday and Sunday April through October. $4.00 per person. No food or drinks on site.

Interesting military museum with a significant base in planes and Air Force history. It is small, but staffed by volunteers and a lot of neat memorabilia. We were there on a weekend and two of outside planes had tour guides who had served on that type of plane and gave tours about the actual use. It is a family friendly short activity, enjoyable for history buffs or plane enthusiasts.

I got a pass to enter the museum at my local library. The museum’s website stated the hours were 1 to 4:30 pm. I arrived with my grandsons at 3:30 pm and was told by the gate attendant that we were there too late. Apparently it takes an hour to go through security and that would put us at the museum as it was closing. The museum should let people know this on the website so that people like me don’t disappoint their grandkids.

This is an active military base. You MUST have picture ID, car registration and auto insurance to get in. No fire arms allowed.
This is an all volunteer museum of military antiques. The museum itself is not large but the internal pathway documents the history of this base. Outside there is a good sized collection of primarily Korean and Vietnam era aircraft. There were a couple I had never seen upclose before like the F-89 Scorpian. There were 2 craft, the c-130 and the P3 that had docents inside to explain about the working and history of the planes. One I purposely wanted to see was the B-26. As a 17 yr old student at an aviation high school I had the cheap thrill of doing full power run-ups and a short taxi of this exact plane. 4,800 total take off HP I recall.

We went here today for a 100th anniversary Air Show. Gates opened at 9 am and stayed open until around 6pm. The Museum is located on a military base and they do this air show every other year for one week-end. There is no charge for the event. There are Porta potties located close to the event areas. Fast food stands are also located through the event, so you have easy access to food and beverages. We took our chairs, but many took a blanket to sit on. This was a very fun day and we learned a lot throughout the day of visiting each of the areas where plans were displayed. The food and beverages were in the same price range as if going to a professional ball game. There also was free parking. It was a beautiful day weather wise and a fun day for the family. They had chauffered golf carts ànd parking for handicapp.

What a wonderful little museum. They are open on Memorial Day and Fourth of July. If you have any interest in the history of Selfridge and/or military planes, you should check it out.

Don't just drop in. The 2017 general public hours for the Museum and Air Park are noon to 4:30 PM on Saturdays and Sundays, Independence Day and Memorial Day from April 1 through October 29. Regular hours visiting is very reasonable. Visits by-appointment are available, but cost $40. Be sure you have a valid government ID or you may be subject to a background check. For more information, call 586-239-5035.

A very nice assortment of different aircraft. Also things to be seen indoors as well. An excellent stop for the kids to see some aircraft up close, without driving to Wright Patterson in Ohio.
