Seul Choix was one of the best lighthouses we made it to over the summer. It was my teen daughter's favorite. The nice folks that ran the place were great! My daughter was enthralled by the ghost stories one of the ladies told her. We went up to the top and took photos, checked out the shed and the gift shop and dipped our toes into Lake Michigan. They also have a haunted lighthouse event around Halloween, which I imagine is pretty fun.

Nice light house, you actually get to climb the 94 steps to the light, there are 2 medium sized hatches you have to climb through but when you make it, the views are spectacular. In the house on the second floor, they have a skeleton in the closet and be sure to visit the fog signal building for some info on the varies light house keepers. But by all means visit the gift shop first & see the 30 minute free film on the history of this lighthouse.

Seul Choix Lighthouse is about a 30 minute drive from Manisitique and well worth the time. The local historical society has worked (and continues to work) tirelessly to maintain the wonderful museum and grounds. This tour will give you a true sense of what living and working at a lighthouse was like from 1895 until 1972 when the light was fully automated. There are numerous and delightful period displays and a mountain of information. The volunteer docents are very informative and dedicated to the vision of maintaining the history of the lighthouse. The view from the light platform is worth the climb. It’s 96 steps with resting points along the way so it’s accessible to almost everyone. Be sure to take one of the trails down to the shore. The lake is impossibly beautiful.

My wife and I are lighthouse junkies. We could hardly wait to visit Seul Choix. It was everything we expected and more. Very nice people. Well kept grounds. Able to climb the tower. Loved the canoe displayed that was found in the sand. Loved every minute we were there. Seul Choix became the 86th lighthouse we have visited, and it cracked my top 5 list. Well done and thank you!

This lighthouse is very cool to visit. The guide in the house was very informative and very nice. The lighthouse is one you can actually walk up into the top. For $5 you can walk all over the property and buildings. Great views of Lake Michigan as well.

I have been to many lighthouses in which you were not allowed to climb to the top. I hope they don't change that here because it is a truly amazing experience and the view from the top rewards you for all the steps you have to climb to get there. Don't miss the opportunity. In addition to the lighthouse itself, the living quarters have been lovingly restored by numerous volunteers. Their gift shop offers a few predictable souvenir items. The movie is interesting, but the star of this show is the lighthouse. If you have a fear of heights I don't recommend climbing to the top of the lighthouse. Your first look out from the top will take your breath away. Of course, what comes up must come down. While I enjoyed the climb up, I was a bit anxious on the descent.
It is only a few miles south of US 2 from Gulliver. Make the turn south and have an amazing experience. Good things are rarely found right on the highway.

I'm a lighthouse fanatic. I was born too late to be a lighthouse keeper; :-( but, I'm planning on volunteering at one when I retire!
This is one of the best I've toured. The house is beautiful, very well preserved with a lot of period furniture. It looks as though it is still being lived in.
The grounds are also very nice. The view from the top of the lighthouse is awesome. (Beware there are 96 steps in a very narrow staircase. Look at the view - don't look down if you are adverse to heights!
Hint: Don't use the restrooms! As I've found in most Michigan state parks, rest stops etc. they are very lax in emptying them! Quite a stench!

Situated on Lake Michigan’s rocky bay — about 15 miles south of US-2 in Gulliver, Michigan. Beautiful well maintained grounds and lighthouse station. A separate welcome center, with small “movie” theatre and gift shop are on the grounds. A short hike through a wooded pathway leads you out to the shoreline — which is pretty breathtaking.

The lighthouse station is decorated and “staged” with vintage accessories and furnishings from the period representing the lighthouse keeper days.

For those wishing to learn more about the history of ghost stories — the tour guide has you covered.

Travel down a gravel/dirt toad about 4 miles. It is a 1892 lighthouse think about that as you drive there. Lighthouse keeper lived on site but have been long days isolated. Still an operating lighthouse. They didn't charge as they were decorating for Halloween they put lots of effort -- all volunteers. Very knowledgeable people you could talk with and listen to. You can climb to the top -- I decided it was more steps than I wanted to do. Gift shop was closed.

We took our kids to see Santa at the lighthouse. What a wonderful spot to get in the Christmas Spirit. Our children, 5,6 and 9 all enjoyed checking out the lighthouse while waiting to visit Santa. The community really pulled off a great celebration for the kids and a great spot for the adults to explore as well.
