Did a weekend golf trip in Grand Rapids and the "jewel" in the crown was going to be Thousand Oaks. The course lived up to the hype, it is extremely nice, very scenic and playable. The problem we had was with the "ranger" on the course, I have never met a more unproffesional man on a golf course. Rude and definetely on some kind of power kick. Our computer on the cart told us we were 4 minutes behind the pace but their was NO one behind us (on a par 4) and he came yelling we were holding up his whole golf course, that he was backed up to #1 and we were on #8. We acknowledged we had trouble on the previous hole looking for a ball, but he would not even look me in the eye just kept ranting we were behind the pace. Needless to say, we went elsewhere for lunch and beers. Would of liked to see the Acorn Grill, but not with those people around. The kid who took our bags in the morning was the only freindly people we met.

This is a beautiful golf course which is very quiet and gives you the feeling of being "up north." It is very hilly and is kept in great shape.
The restaurant is very good also, and in the summer it is really fun to dine outside and watch people tee off on the first hole.

We went to a wedding reception here. Very nice! Room was large enough for about 300 guests. Views were of the rolling hills of the golf course. Bridge and groom were seated above the main floor so everyone could see them. Dance floor was a good size. Service was excellent.

It's a sunny day, early spring. Many courses do not have their driving range open because the ground is so wet. For example, I drove to Quail Ridge to hit some balls. The range was closed, too wet. Fine. I called a few other courses and received similar bad news. Eric, the head pro at Thousand Oaks, said the range is open! Great. I drive out there.
"I'd like a large bucket of balls."
Eric: "The range is open for members only."
"But Eric, when I called asked if the driving range was open you said yes. You said nothing about being a member." (I've used the range before without being a member.)
Eric: "You never asked."
Great customer service, Eric.

I played there in an outing, and you wished you had brought a camera with you a couple of times. Beautiful course.

Thousand Oaks is one of the most beautiful and challenging golf courses in West Michigan. Friendly staff that really care about the course and continue to work to keep it in good condition. Frequent wildlife on this heavily wooded course. They really need to update the photos on TripAdvisor...it doesn’t come close to showing how pretty it is.

Reds restaurant (at the course) should really be reviewed separately, but it is also very good.

The first time I played Thousand Oaks was in 2001. It was special then - a plush course. It has matured since and has a lot of houses now (which is to be expected). The round cost $90 on a weekday. Too much when considering how many options are available in the area.

The fairways were not mown that day - and that was disappointing. The greens were very nice!

I would return but not for $90 per round.

I enjoy Thousand Oaks because it not only is beautiful, had delicious food and over looks the gorgeous golf course, but it is welcoming, making you feel comfortable and at home. Try the Ahi Tuna or the Chilian Sea Bass.

If money were no object for me I would golf here frequently. It is on the pricy side for my golf tastes but as for the course... it is superb.
