Although tour hours are limited, it is well worth scheduling time to visit the Meyer May House in the Heritage Hill are of Grand Rapids. This Prairie Style Frank Lloyd Wright home is a wonderful example of the forward thinking architect. Painstakingly restored by Steelcase, this gem is one of the best FREE tours there are! Tucked away in a sleepy section of old elegant Grand Rapids, you will find this Prairie School gem completely restored to its original glory courtesy of Steelcase. Step back into the early 1900s and discover how forward-looking Frank Lloyd Wright was at the turn of the 20th century. Renovated in the mid-1980s, this wonderful adventure takes you back in time... This is a Grand Rapids Gem of a former time of industry and power that is still relevant today. Steelcase did an awesome job with the restoration and continues to give back through Free tours. We loved it so much that we went again and got different perspectives in each room, time of day and lighting, and tour guides.

We visited the Meyer May House which has been totally restored by the Steelcase Furniture Co. The tour is free and includes a 25 minute movie about the restoration of the house. The docent was wonderful and very knowledgeable. For any Frank Lloyd Wright buff this is a must see. The furniture, carpeting, everything has been restored to Wright's original... More

If you enjoy architecture, especially Frank Lloyd Wright, you should include this during a visit. The hours are limited for tours, but Steelcase made this a showpiece for Grand Rapids. The movie before the tour is well worth it to see how they renovated the building and collected furniture for the home.

When I was planning my trip to Michigan, I was quite pleased to learn that a Frank Lloyd Wright designed a house in Grand Rapids. Prior to the Meyer May House, I had already visited Fallingwater in Pennsylvania and the Dana-Thomas House in Springfield, Illinois. This house did not disappoint. The living room and the fire place are my favorite... More

The house is worth seeing if you have an hour and a half. The tour is free; it includes a 30 minute video of the restoration process (it seems outdated at this point, but still worth watching), and then a guided tour of the house. I had a few hours to kill during the day, and I'm happy that I... More
