The Renaissance man’s plans to sculpt a 24-foot bronze horse were never realized until an American sculptor created two models based on da Vinci’s drawings, one of which graces the Frederik Meijer Gardens.

Now that the weather is warming the Gardens will be great outside not just inside. We have visited the Butterfly exhibit and recently the Bonzi event - both were entertaining and fun.

This statue is amazing and only one of a number of art pieces scattered throughout the ground. You can stand under the body and admire da Vinci's eye for perfection of form. Worth seeing.

This growing attraction is truly world-class! The new Japanese garden has made this garden even more incredible. Whether you enjoy sculpture, gardens, natural areas or kid-friendly activities, this is the place for you! Special exhibits like the butterflies and Art Prize are priceless!

More or less the center piece of the Gardens, and well worth seeing if you are in town. What was pretty cool were the smaller versions, and each larger size is amazing the same. BIG horse!

If you're going to be at the Fred Meyer Gardens for any reason (like to see the butterflies...) you should make sure to make the quick walk out to the giant horse. It's very large and very impressive.
