Much more impressive than I thought it was going to be.

There is only a short hike to the top of the falls from the parking lot. There are stairs along side the falls that will take you to the bottom. There are also a few veiwing platforms along the way that offer some great photos. I went to the bottom and back up, deciding against going all the way to the lake, as my daughter was a bit hiked out from Au Sable Light. It was a hot day, so I was happy just checking out the falls and then heading into town for lunch.

Lovely Falls & Beautiful Area!
Jul 2021
First viewing stop on our Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore visit. We first stopped at the Grand Sable Visitor's Center on the Eastern end & were lucky enough to meet Mike, a volunteer ranger. He was friendly, informative, & thoroughly enjoyable! He gave us specific advice for our one day visit & we followed them to the letter. The falls are a great stop.

Pretty and Dog Friendly

Close to Grand Marais and allows dogs. We walked all the way out to the Lake Superior beach and let our dogs cool off! There were a few different platforms at different levels to see the falls.

these were very beautiful falls. there are many steps (160+) to get down to viewing area. make sure you continue your hike down to the beach filled with polished river rock.

Beautiful

My husband and I visited Sable Falls in hopes of finding yooperlites on Sable Beach. Unfortunately, we did not. However, the falls were beautiful. The trail down to the shoreline was easy and the shoreline itself (especially at sunset) was breathtaking.

My favorite waterfall in the park

A short hike, but lots of stairs to get to the main viewing areas. An additional short hike takes you to the lakeshore and access to the AuSable sand dunes.

There's is RV parking . Not a lot, both likely ample unless it's very crowded.

You could also park at the Visitor Center and hike to the falls.

i highly recommend adding this to your list of falls to see! Its a gorgeous hike through the woods with several steps down to the falls. For sure` go down the steps and see the falls and then KEEP GOING on the trail and you'll end up at a stony beach and sand dunes. SO PRETTY!

Not a Planned Stop

Glad we did! This is a beautiful waterfall that empties into Lake Superior. There were a lot of steps to the falls but then you had a beautiful walk to the lake. Great place for swimming, walking the beach, climbing the dunes, enjoying the sunshine and rock hunting.

So glad we stopped here
Jul 2020
A shop owner gave us tip that we could walk along the shoreline to get to the falls. It was not too long but you have to be prepared to walk on sand and rocks. Once we were there we could climb some stairs to see the falls which were lovely. We then decided to walk some of the trails and are very glad we did because we made it to the sand dunes and saw some of the best views of our entire vacation.
