Although most of the park is filled with campers, it is very quiet. The beach is excellent - great rock collecting, lots of sand for sand lovers, very picturesque.

This campground was great. The sites did not have any privacy, but we had a view of Lake Superior, so that was cool! The park was very dog friendly as was the beach that we walked all the way down into town. Lovely place.

Planned a last minute Labor Day Weekend adventure and was so happy to find this pace between Pictured Rocks and Tahquamenon Falls. Got their early and hoped for the best. And the best was yet to come! We landed a great spot on the water and had a great time. Love this place and will(hopefully) be back next year

Given our plans changed at the last minute due to the pandemic (Canada border closed), we ended up meandering. Otherwise, I would NEVER have attempted a non-reservable campground without a back up!

So glad that we did. We did as another reviewer suggested, arrived near 845 and got a list of campers who MAY be leaving that day. No luck. All were staying or claimed, so I just started walking around and looking at dates. One RVer came over and asked if I was looking for a site, and offered his. He was leaving a day early! Site 69, all shade, Electric and water only.

We liked it so much that we extended and stayed 4 nights!

Beautiful beach, nice people, great sunsets!

Would go again!

Most folks want this place reservable, and I must admit, it was kind of in the middle of nowhere. Office won't offer you overflow if you cannot find a spot, you have to ask. Also the posts that mark the site can be lifted out of the ground (which helps you park)

GREAT SPOT! (visited Pictured Rocks and took the cruise, Kayaks were booked. Pontoons booked. Hiked the lakeshore. Hiked Tahqamenon falls. Beautiful 10.8 miles round trip. Don't hike between the upper and lower falls if it just rained, some spots got pretty muddy even with 2 days since rain.

We will be back~!

The park itself is a nice park with with electicity, water, clean bathrooms and a nice village to walk to. The campground sits about 70 feet above Lake Superior with a great view a nice wide beach and lots of rocks. It seems that half the campground comes to the cliffs for great sunsets. So yes, we've been there several times and will go again. The problem that I have is the lack of a reservation system. First off, the park is a good 30 miles from another campground so call ahead to see what your chances are. But if you really want a site in the busy season you'll have to get there around 9am and "vulture", that is drive around the campground checking out the dates on the site cards to see who might be leaving and see if the current occupant will allow you to claim this site. Bare in mind that this park considers personel property, perhaps a folding chair, as claimed. even over a signed and paid for form. While we were there once , a woman got permission from a camper to claim a site, went to the office and registered only to find that the camper decided at the last minute to stay another day. It all worked out in the end but for a while she thought she lost her site and her money.

I was not camping in Grand Marias, but staying in a motel on the hill. I needed to do laundry and asked if there was a laundromat in town. I was told to go to the "city park" which is Woodland Park and an RV campground that has showers and laundry facilities. I stopped at the office and a very nice young man told me that the laundry facilities were open to the public, so I purchased soap, got change for the machines, and off I went. The campground is a fairly big one with campsites along the shores of Lake Superior. While my laundry was drying, I took the opportunity to walk the beach that is steps from the campground and got a lot of colorful rocks for my collection, no agates were to be found, but if you are interested in colorful and uniquie looking rocks, you will have a good time on that beach.

We didn't camp here but one evening we did go down to Sable beach and it was an amazing evening. Lots of soft sand and near the waterline, great rock hunting. The sunset was breathtaking. Easily accessible for most. There is a viewing platform for those who can't walk on the sand well.

This is a non reservation campground. It has over 100 campsites from the primitive tent site to the full hook up RV sites. We had no problem getting a tent site the last week in July.

We camped here for 5 days. (Primitive tent camping) we had a great spot (G & H) we were able to pull our vehicles right up. Caught the sunset every night on the beach. There were portapotties right by our site and it was mostly only us that used them, so definitely a plus. Bathrooms were very nice though! Take quarters for your showers.
