This was such a cute setup by Grand Haven.
It starts at about 9:30 and lasts until about 10 at the park with the grassy steps.
It's set up across the waterway at the bottom of the hill.
They play family-friendly music throughout the show to go along with the lights and water.
Pretty much anywhere you sit will give you a fabulous view, but to have less people around, I'd recommend going down the boardwalk a few feet towards the lighthouse.
There is also a local lady selling cool light up balloons for $15 each or 2/$25. I'd recommend getting one for your kids. She's very nice and you can Cash app her if you don't have cash.

Where else can you see a beautiful musical fountain show for free. It is located across the river, The fountain and lights follow the music picked for the night. Show begins at 10:10pm. Be there or be square. Lol

My Wife and I paid a visit to Grand Haven on our way to Mackinac Island. Stayed overnight and caught the show at the Musical Fountain. Area was clean, ample space and really a nice set up in an amphitheater style "seating" arrangement. It was bring your own chair but the way it is set up is like an amphitheater. Show lasted about 20 minutes and was great with clean/clear audio. It's a nice area there with the marina and some shopping. The area has plenty of options of places to grab a beer or some food and and ice cream place.

Got into GH about 2:30 & spent the aft. in shops. Wanted to go to hotel before light show but decided there wouldnt be any parking avail later. I was right. Walked down to the waterfront and saw crowd starting to assemble.. Grabbed dinner nearby & then got down to the fountain area about 1-1/2 hrs before show. I saw the photos on the website apparently by professionals who paid the boaters to clear out. Sooooo, yes the continuous stream of HUGE boats back and forth in front of the light show and some that even stopped in front really ruins the show. I was surprised that this was even allowed to happen. Also the large anchor in the background looked odd as It was not lit up as it is shown in photos. The show itself was a little disappointing, with too much repetition and limited fountain displays. The music was not recognizable at all, except for the first half which were themes from "Frozen" and this was a double feature show lasting about 1 hr. It might be OK for the little ones. Yawn.

We had heard this was a must see. We were in the area and came over to watch the show around 830. There was some live entertainment playing which was nice. The entertainment ended at 9. The water show started at 10:10 by then we were ready to go. We watched about half of it and they had to pause the show for a large ship to come thru. Once it started again we stayed for another song then headed out.

We took some good friends here since they had not visited before and it was our first time back in years. I was surprised at the changes which are very good. There is lots of room for people to sit and watch or to play.
The fountain and lights were great and the music was fun to listen to. Numerous boats made their way up and down the river.
The boardwalk in the area provides many places to eat, drink and to party. There were people everywhere laughing and enjoying themselves and the kids playing were having a great time.
Kudos to Grand Haven for making this a better place.

We tried to see it but my kids couldn’t stay up that late. It said it started at dusk which I assumed was around 9:15pm. We arrived at 8 & walked around. Beautiful little town. Lots of ice cream options. Unfortunately, we had already had dessert so a second dessert wasn’t on option.
After an hour, I looked online & saw it wouldn’t start until 10:10pm each night. So we went home.
I’d definitely go back & time it better & save room for dessert.
Lovely, family friendly area. Watching the boats was fun. Just wish dusk had come earlier for us.

May daughter and I got ice cream and then sat on a bench along with the water and watched the show. It was a perfect night on vacation and I am so glad we got to see it. Will for sure go again when we go back!

So we went to the The Musical Fountain on a Saturday night and kick off for Coast Guard Week..... The theme for Saturday Night was the Greatest Showman. It was dancing water with lights and music.... All we kept hearing was the Coast guard week fireworks with the Musical Fountain is the best......

Can anyone tell me if the Musical Fountain will be running this summer? We are heading up mid June.

The fountain is at the base of a tall dune on the north shore, that puts you either at the top of the dune, or on the wrong side to see it.I believe the top of the dune is inacessable. Sorry.

Fountain viewing is free .. you sit on the river bank on the opposite side of the Grand River. If you a lucky enough to get a seat on Snug Harbor's deck, you can see the fountain show from there.
