We were able to observe Elk even around noon on a hot August day. If you need to stretch your legs a bit this is a worthwhile, and free, stop.

They had lots of elk, in various sizes. The fence is pretty tall, but you can still get good pictures, They had a large food pile (hay) and some had their whole heads in the pile. Great fun watching these beautiful animals.

This year we visited after lunch and the elk were no where to be seen. Went back another day after dinner and the elk were up near the fence. Always a good attraction

My husband and I had a bit of trouble finding the park. The GPS took us to the city yard-waste composting area. My husband refused to go through the gate. So I took him to the Elks club parking lot. We could see elk near...More

The directions point you to a state park 4-5 miles from where the elk are actually located. They are in Aspen Park just off of Old 27, east 1/2 mile on Commerce to Elkview in Gaylord. Good parking/viewing behind first building on the right.

If you've never seen Elk before, this is your chance. Parking is close, and most of the Elk are close to the fence for easy viewing because the feed troughs are there. If they are roaming, it will be a bit more difficult.

The area is family friendly with a fence. The Elk are visible most of the time. We were lucky some were laying close to the fence and had very large racks.

Free fun and great for kids. It can be difficult to find especially if you use GPS which has you drive in circles through the neighborhood but it's obvious once you find it. Elks can be far away to view but we got lucky

Visited the town of Gaylord and the elk park was a nice surprise. The GPS took us through a neighborhood and into what seemed to be the local waste management area. But that was where at least some of the elk were located! Counted about...More

Viewing area is a huge parking lot - I’m sure a dog on a leash would be fine.
