Loved the mystery and mood of this lovely historic site. The area is remote and gives you a wonderful feeling of what life was like there in the 1800's. You can imagine the isolation they must have felt. The little bay is very picturesque and...More

We have been here many times and are always amazed after not visiting for awhile how much more has been renovated to look at the village would have appeared during its heyday. They also have an annual Heritage Day where they have rides around the...More

You will start by walking down a long hill to get to the site. There is also walking to get up to the town level, and then back again to get to the parking lot. However it is worth it all.

This gem is 20 minutes off Highway2 and well worth the trek. The fast and furious 20-some history is presented exceptionally well, and the preserved buildings make the story vivid. It's easy to imagine being back there 140 years ago.

This attraction is well worth the detour from the I2. The historic site is compact although you will need to be sure footed in places. I would have marked it higher if there had been more interpretive interaction on site. It felt like a ghost...More

If you're interested in history, labor, immigrants, and ghost towns, this is a place for you! Fayette is a ghost town that manufactured pig iron between 1867 and 1891 and when the market went bust, everyone left. Buildings were in ruins, but the historical society...More

Interesting history and beautiful views. Beware of navigation taking you to a dead end road. Had to go old school and break out a paper map of Michigan to find it. Well worth the visit.

They were able to preserve a lot of the old buildings and a few photo's from the people that called this home. A great history lesson. It makes you appreciate what we have today...
