About
Michigan Heroes Museum is dedicated to Honoring, Respecting, and Remembering the memories of people from Michigan who heeded the call to military service during America's seven foreign wars. Located in Frankenmuth, the museum was started in order to tell the stories of servicemen and women from around the state and it now contains over 900 full collections of personal artifacts and stories of our wartime heroes. In fact, Michigan Heroes Museum has gathered so many stories that it is the largest museum of its kind throughout the country and still growing. Visitors to Michigan Heroes Museum can expect to be overwhelmed by the stories of sacrifice, bravery, and valor that they will find there as the museum strives to Honor, Respect and Remember those who have served in our nations military and our space programs.

I tried to go to Frankenmuth Michigan every year. I always stay at the Frankenmuth motel, which I have done a review of. Next door to the Frankenmuth motel is this wonderful little military museum. It is not the biggest museum but it is packed full of so many stories of heroes from the state of michigan. Each military person has their own display and it has a very detailed story of their lives and their time of service. It also contains many personal items from each hero. Again not the biggest place but you can definitely tie up a couple hours if you have any interest in military history and the heroes that served our great country. It is also very Hands-On with many items. For example, they have casings with trench art carved in them from world war 1 and you are more than welcome to pick them up to examine them. There are some very detailed scale models of warships. And the one part is all space oriented with again many stories and details from astronauts from the state. The price is more than reasonable to visit as well. They have a small but very nice little gift shop. Like I said it is right next door to the Frankenmuth motel and about two blocks from bronner's Christmas world. The gentleman that was on duty the day I went was quite exceptional and we wound up talking for over 45 minutes. As other people come in he was more than happy to give them a personalized tour. Anyone with an interest in military history if you are in the area I would highly recommend checking out this little gym. My admission was $6 and it was worth way more than that. A very enjoyable afternoon with some fascinating stories of heroism.

Make sure you have time to read about the amazing men and women of Michigan who have served our nation. This is a museum like no other I have seen and maybe more states should create museums like this. My son really loved looking and all the artifacts in the displays. My wife loved the area designated for all the Michiganders who were astronauts. This museum will definitely be worth your time when you come to Frankenmuth.

As the very knowledgeable docent explained...this museum goes beyond featuring historic artifacts, they focus on the stories of real people. Each exhibit focuses on actual Michigan natives who served in the military and/or NASA. You do of course, get to see actual uniforms, tools, medals, weapons...but more importantly, you learn about the stories behind the incredible service these individuals gave to our country. Spanning The Spanish-American War to today, the museum covers a great deal of ground in a relatively small space. You don't have to be from Michigan or a military buff to appreciate the powerful, human contribution made by the exemplary Americans celebrated here. Admission is very reasonable, and you will leave feeling humbled.

This review made us smile. We are extremely grateful for the review and insights. We absolutely love it when someone grasps the full meaning of our entire collection. These heroes must be remembered, and we thank you for doing your part in that.

Alot of things to see.
Some astounding.
An artillery Luger atop a pile of German pistols with others under it, as well as other makes & models. Tens of thousands of dollars of donated war trophies.
In a pile, in a case.
This should give you a quick idea of the shear number of artifacts to see in this museum.

We spent an hour, met a young docent quite intent on giving us a tour, even though we suggested several times we merely wanted to move at our own pace. He was extremely knowledgeable, for one his age. Thanks Jack.

A Deputy Director, John, I believe, also pointed out some items, specifically those having belonged to Don Burgett of the 101st Airborne.

The Director happened to be there, and was quite amicable, and showed us some things after we identified ourselves as museum docents from Illinois. Additionally, he referred us to a local rib joint, which was incredible.

Great people, an interesting place.

Don't forget to look up above the showcases,
where artifacts are placed, or you'll miss alot.

There are so many different stories that this museum has that they have to rotate them out. This museum has over 800 stories from different US service men and women just from Michigan. They have to rotate them out because they can't possibly have them all visible at once. If you love history this stop is a must visit. I never even heard of this museum until we started planning this trip. This is definitely a must stop anytime I'm in Frankenmuth from now on because there will always be different stories the next time I go. I have nothing but great things to say about this museum.

We would highly recommend this Museum, my son and I stop by every year. Always changing displays, it's really moving to see each hero's story. It's a very detailed exhibit and an awesome respect to our Michigan Military to see and remember their heroism and sacrifice.

My wife and I stopped by after shopping at the Christmas place, (my reward for going shopping with her). I was not sure what to expect. I have been to a few small memorials and museums and was very impressed with this facility. The location is easily accessible and provides ample parking. We went on a Saturday morning around 10AM. There wasn't many people visiting so spacing was not an issue. The museum was well designed and the attendant (Mike I believe) was very helpful and knowledgeable. The displays were clean and bright. The information was detailed but not overwhelming. I found it interesting that they focused on individuals not events. There were a few videos playing and plenty of tools, uniforms and weapons to see. We spent about 2 hours which was about all my wife could take, lol. That was pleasant of time to take it all in. I could have spent another 2 hours but you can easily spend less time and still feel like you seen everything.
I would consider this a must-see in Frankenmuth especially if you injoy military history or would like to show your gratitude to those who have fallen in defence of our nation.

While my wife would have enjoyed it, the Christmas shop took higher priority.
While I did enjoy an hour and a half in the Christmas store , I came here ( just a mile away ) for another 2 hrs while my wife continued to shop. I could have spent all day here.
I have been in a lot of "military type" museums, but this was different as the focus was on individual men and women from Michigan and their heroic service to our country from the Spanish American War to present .

Dear KPPP4872, We are happy to hear that your wife enjoyed Bronner's CHRISTmas Wonderland. We are also thrilled that you had a great visit at our museum too. I am super happy that you enjoyed the personal stories of our servicemen, servicewomen, and astronauts from the great state of Michigan. We hope that you visit again. Next time, bring your whole family. :)

This museum does not have military vehicles or planes but rather has displays to honor Michigan men and women who served their country in the military. Displays cover the Spanish American war to all the conflicts after including the war on terror. There is a section on NASA which is interesting. Displays are well done and focus on individuals in the military. There are many weapons and military models to see. This museum explains the human aspect of war. The curator there explained things well and answered all our questions. A very well done museum!

My school, some chaperones, and I went here on a trip to Frankenmuth. My dad came along with us. Being a veteran, he was bawling at how represented the military is at this museum. Highly recommend if you are or were a member of the military. Bring your family with you so you can show how much serving in the military means to you.
