Fenn Valley Vineyards is a family owned and operated vineyard and winery complex established in 1973. Our goal then, as it is now, is to produce world-class wines from grapes grown along the shore of Lake Michigan.

Husband booked a private vineyard picnic and it totally blew my mind away. First the vineyard is beautiful, spacious and has lots to offer without purchasing the picnic but I’m so glad he did! It is the same price whether you book it for 2 people or 6 so come alone or with a group. We booked the last picnic at 3:30 and because of that we lucked up that there was no rush for us to wrap up. Upon arriving we were asked to wait by the private tractor to take us to the location. Once we arrived to the picnic location we had food (cheese, meats, crackers, bread and fruit) and most of all the wine we chose for the outing. We also ordered a pepperoni pizza that we did not get to eat. We took most of the food home
With us. There was a speaker for us to play music, lots of photo ops by the huge trees, sunflower and wine/ Grape trees. We walked around a lot .
We are from a big city and it was great to be amongst peace and quiet with the most beautiful backdrop ever, and did I mention there wasn’t another person in sight! Perfect for any couple with a busy life with kids (or not)
The only negative is that there were a lot of bees flying around the food but that is to be expected and the vineyard did try to make an accommodation for that by making picnic table covers available but they kept flying off.
All of the staff was delightful, especially Ryan who brought us too and from our picnic location.

My husband I visited the tasting room in October 2019 while we were spending a few days in Holland, and it was a great experience. So many of the wines were so good, and the tasting so enjoyable, that we bought several bottles to take home and we loved them at home just as much! I just ordered another case (plus one) on the Fenn Valley web site, and it arrived with lightening fast speed, beautifully packaged and every bottle intact. With a $1 shipping special and a discount for ordering multiple bottles, I couldn't beat the price. (A great deal.) I am not usually a fan of Michigan wines, but this vineyard has changed my mind about this region. The fruit wines are delicious and a departure from the norm. The sweeter whites (and sweet wines are usually not my thing) are also fabulous. Highly recommend whether you visit in person or order online.

Last weekend Fenn Valley celebrated there 50 yrs. with a jazz concert. The taprooms of Michigan are as good as any. They have 2 things in common, good quality food & libations. That goes for wineries. Fenn Valley Vineyards & Wine Cellar is a down to earth winery with award winning wine. The staff is courteous & friendly. A down to earth unpretentious, homey, family owned winery with first rate wines, ciders, & spritzers. Cheers to a nice job pairing good food & wine, in this case also with live jazz. It was my first visit, there for the jazz. As a mechanical wheelchair user, I was able to get around most areas, inside & outside. Our experience was indoors. The vines were bare & most of the outside areas were not yet opened, although you can use one of the igloos or the heated outside area. They also have a nice bar. Cheers!

We stopped on July 19 at 11 am and were almost the first visitors. Plenty of outside tables in shade or sum as you prefer and there is inside seating as well. The $10 7 wine tasting is well worth it - they have a great variety of grape and fruit wines. We thought the Riesling was particularly good as well as the cherry wine (it really tastes like real cherries!) The staff were available and very helpful. We will return next time we are in the area.

My wife and I wanted to try one of the winery tastings and were surprised that the wine was better than we expected. We first started with 7 white wines- 7 wines to taste for $10, plus a couple of things to munch on. We then tried 7 red wines and the flavored wines- raspberry, cherry and peach/honey. The staff was very nice and i twas very pleasant outside. We have been to Napa Valley in California so this does not compare.

ServIce was excellent and friendly. My husband and I went here one afternoon prior to having dinner in Fennville. The setting is quaint and beautiful. Winery has a couple of outdoor patios and even has evening entertainment which we did not stay for. We were greeted immediately and directed to the tasting room where we were assisted by a very helpful and non-pretentious sommelier who recommended some choices. We ordered a charcuterie board which was generous and tasty. Each tasting had 7 small pours. Winery also now sells cider. It was a fun experience - and worthwhile if you are in the area.

My husband and I and our friends attend most of the events at Fennvalley. We are consistently impressed with not only the wine but the calibur of the events, as well as the staff. I need to give a very special shout-out to Carla. She is a gem. She truly could not be more helpful!!!! She consistently goes above and beyond. A true treasure!!

This was our favorite stop on our wine tasting weekend. The staff was friendly and the wines were the best we had. All Covid precautions were followed (social distancing, mask wearing, most activity was outdoors) so we felt very safe. I liked these whites the best out of all our stops and would like to go back.

We enjoyed spending time on the grounds. The staff was kind and it was set up well for comfortably social distancing. The only reason I didn’t give this a really great rating was because I didn’t like a single wine I selected. This is obviously a matter of my individual taste, but it wasn’t for me. That being said, I would still go back and try a different variety if I was in the area.

Thanks for the kind words. This is one of the challenges of us not being able to conduct in-person tastings due to COVID. During normal times, we often change up the wines being poured after only a couple samples once we get a better idea of customer preference. Glad you are going to come back, we will keep trying to find you something you love!

We came for a wine tasting we had reserved online. The service was good as were the wines we tasted. I loved they had a great variety to choose from. The outdoor seating area was very relaxing. As we were checking out, the lady asked us if we were coming back that evening for music and food. We didn’t even know that was happening so very glad she let us know. We returned for music, good food, and wine slushees. The winery and our Fennville trip was fun and relaxing.

Fenn Valley Winery is south of Saugatuck in Fennville. It is at 6130 122nd Ave. 269-561-2396. Go south on Blue Star Hiway past the Antique store to the Shell Station. This is Hiway 89. Go left till you see the sign for the winery. Make a right and go to 122nd Ave. Make a left and winery will pop up. Easy get to from Saugatuck. Call for tour times. Nice wines at reasonable prices. If you have a GPS just put in the adress. Literature all over Saugatuck for sites and winery.

Will be in Saugatuck Aug 6 for one week. We & family have never done the wine tour. I need times and directions.
We are open 7 days a week. Our Fennville location is open from 11-6pm M-Sat and 12-5 Sunday in August. Our Sauatuck location hours are the same, but it's worth checking our website or calling us to be sure. Thanks and we hope to see you soon!

Bill & Ruth Welschs' lumber yard was in Illinois though...
I'm not exactly sure what you are asking. Yes, the Welsch's owned lumberyards in IL prior to starting Fenn Valley in Michigan. For many years Bill actually commuted between the two businesses until the winery was successful enough on its own.
