Douglas Beach is right down the street from our cottage. It is a small beach at the base of a small dune (maybe 60 steps) and does not have a lifeguard. To my chagrin, people seem routinely to ignore the ban on dogs, which are...More

I didn't find this beach advertised anywhere (not even one street sign!) but I saw it on a map and decided to check it out. If you are driving towards Oval beach (which is amazing) you will be relatively close to it: just keep driving...More

This little city park is a popular no-cost option for locals and tourists alike. However, as a result of the high water level of Lake Michigan, the small beach is now very small. Unfortunately, the City of Douglas has never been able to provide enough...More

I had read that this was a nice beach where dogs were welcome. We packed up 4 adults and 2 small children and all of our stuff for a day of fun on the beach. We love Oval beach and have been going there for...More

This is a small beach in a small town. These days the beach is very small due to the high level of Lake Michigan and erosion along the shore. There is a clean rest room/changing area. I enjoy going here in the evening for sunset.

A bit less crowded than Oval Beach just up the road, but the public access area is pretty thin (and with water levels so high this summer) it'll feel pretty crowded if there's just a few cars in the parking lot. Decent beach facilities up...More

This Lake Michigan beach is small but free and sits in a residential neighborhood. Its uncrowded during the week (except for holidays). There are many stairs to get down to the beach but most able bodied people can do it (may need to take it...More

Pleasantly surprised by this serene oval beach. Being off season we actually had the whole beach to ourselves. Picnic tables scattered along the beach was just perfect for our packed lunch !! had a great time. I'm sure it is a lot crowded in season.

Oval Beach is the lakefront go-to for many folks in the summer, but this quiet, somewhat off-the-beaten-path gem is just the place to go to read or relax. Yes, some of the shore has washed away due to high lake levels, but this small beach...More

Spent a cold November afternoon in Douglas, including a bit of time at Douglas Beach. Be prepared for a lot of steps to get to the water. There are some benches along the stairs which provide some protection from the wind. Great lake views.

Because of the high lake water there was a very thin strand of beach this year...nice park with limited free parking and restrooms.
