Designed by Michigan's own Marshall Fredericks, who has more publicly displayed works than anyone else in the state, the Spirit of Detroit is a must-see site for my out-of-town guests! And photos are a must! On this sunny day in June, I brought three friends visiting Detroit from central Ohio for the time. It's always a pleasure to walk by the statue and see families and friends and brides & grooms getting their photo taken for a lasting memory! Of course, for many Detroiters, the Spirit of Detroit has been a part of major celebrations for winning Detroit sports teams as well as major sporting events hosted by Detroit. Those photos are priceless!! Maybe soon we'll see a Lions jersey on the Spirit of Detroit!

I walked around the downtown area of Detroit on my trip to Michigan. We made sure to go by and see the Spirit of Detroit statue. It is a great photo spot especially with the GM building in the background. This is an iconic must-see spot in the City of Detroit. I recommend a visit.

The Spirit of Detroit statue has been in place for over 60 years. It was the monument that reminded people they were in downtown Detroit as well as on Woodward Ave. It represents the city.

It is very interesting that the statute is always revered as resiliency, however I thought it was extremely informative this that it actually represents man and his connection to God which is where the spirit of Detroit received the name. It is a magnificent statute and it actually gives you the information on the concept of the statue. It was based off of II Corinthians in the Bible it really is a must see if you are a point of interest person. It is centrally located, easy access to walk up to it, you will have to have parking the problem is at different times of the day parking can be a little challenging. We really enjoyed it!!

The Spitit of Detroit is a beautiful statue to visit if you are in the area.
Many tourist attractions, restaurants, bars nearby.
Especially beautiful at nighttime.
Don't make a special trip - visit if you are nearby.

The Spirit of Detroit is easily accessible for travelers and should be seen by all that come to Detroit for a visit. It is a symbol of the city and represents what Detroit is, a good old fashion hard working city built on strong values. A great icon of an amazing city.

There is really nothing to do but look at it, but the statue is beloved by Detroiters. It is well known for wearing huge jerseys of Detroit's pro sports teams when they are in the playoffs or World Series. Long ago, someone painted huge footsteps from the statue to a female statue across the street.

You can't miss this if you walk down Woodward Ave to the waterfront. It's quite beautiful, I hope that the optimism in the statue plays out for Detroit.
