The tour of the distillery with Ben was very informative and fun. Ben told me about the history of the distillery, the processes they use as well as about virtually every type of drink they produce, which is plenty. Many of the details had to do with the history of Detroit, which was very interesting. During the tasting I could figure out what my favourites were and then I moved to the cocktail room with a very friendly ambiance and impressive menu. Definitely a place I would recommend.

Make this location a "must do" when visiting Detroit. We thoroughly enjoyed our drinks, talking with the staff and looking at the decor & artwork. It was our first time visiting Detroit and we can honestly say that this will be a place to visit when we return.

Nice location, right in front of the old train station on Michigan Ave. Very friendly staff and well-crafted cocktails. The tour was very interesting and only took about an 1-1 1/2. They take you through the distillation process and you have the opportunity to sample what they produce.

Going for a quick drink here is fine. No menu so probably wouldn't stay here long, but we decided to take the distillery tour. Price is not bad at $25/person as you get to try about 10 different types of liqueur, but back room is not really set up for tours. I have done many wine tours and areas you are shown are very nice. This is very crude where you are stepping over boxes and you just stand in 1 spot as tour guide explains the process. Also our guide swore like a sailor. Not very professional.

If you are not looking for it, you will miss it. South side of Michigan avenue, "two James " sign is vertical, outside a reclaimed warehouse. Tasting room very appropriate, circular bar, craft cocktails. Tours available, bottles and merchandise for sale. Staff straight to business but attentive and creative. Tours available 1-2 times a day on weekends. Good on you Two James, thank you for representing city of Detroit!

One word - WOW!!!

We visited Two James after dinner at Slows following a recommendation from a Detroit resident. We are forever in his debt!!!! We had the four whisky flight each which was just the right amount! The whiskies are all distilled in house and range from unaged whiskies to whiskies aged in various 'flavoured' barrels.

The atmosphere was buzzing and really added to the overall experience. If you like whisky I urge you to visit Two James!!

My friend and I visited Two James Spirits on Friday, May 6 in the early afternoon. Very cool, but low key, friendly, knowledgeable staff mixed us up a pair of Manhattan Cocktails, using their Rye Whisky at my request, instead of the bourbon listed in the menu. The bartender was happy to oblige. Two kinds of bar nuts were provided. The drinks were delicious, served on the rocks, with two marinated cherries. Next time we will take the tour.

We happened by Two James on a Saturday afternoon just before 3PM. We checked out the drink menu and noticed there was a tour starting in ten minutes, and couldn't pass up the opportunity.

For $15 it was a steal! We got to sample all of the spirits- some much more my taste than others- but doing so in the backroom with the stills was a great experience! Our tour guide, Andreas, was hilarious and knowledgeable, and made the entire tour. If any of the owners of this joint read this review- can you look at getting him a raise?

Afterward, we enjoyed a few cocktails out front, and couldn't leave without picking up a bottle of their Old Cockney gin.

Had fantastic time at Two James - drinks, a tour and then dinner in cork town. 1st the staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Taste anything at the bar before buying. The spirits are high quality - they have very high standards. The tour was fun with the group we had, again got to try everything. Then went to Slows - short walk. Overall, an outstanding place to visit and high quality booze - made in Detroit!

We dropped in for a drink early evening and it was like popping into a friends place, who has set up a bar, is distilling his own spirits, has his best friends around and is loving the whole experience. Lovely people enjoying cocktails made with care and pride.....perfect.
